After shopping around this wknd for something more along the lines of my a Gsxr 1000 or an R1 (last one got stolen :finger: ), I got to sit on a Busa...man, that seemed alot more comfortable than my other two choices and am now contemplating one of the bigger sport touring bikes.

Granted, i have toured on my R1 and other sport bikes many times (ie: South FL to NC for a week and back on my R1 two years ago :D), but I am ready to move up. Don't want to give up the torque and speed and sportiness, but want something slighlty (only slightly, don't want a Concourse for example :twofinger ) more comfortable for two up riding.

Choices for me

=Hayabusa - seems to be my favorite, lots of power to offset the weight, and comfortable at the same time.
=CBR1100XX - Haven't really looked at them , but not sure if they have enough "sport" in them, since you never hear about them as much as the busa's. Are they less powerful also?
=Ninja ZX12 - Hopefully they've worked out the bugs. Looks a little tall and not as comfortable as the Busa though, more sport bike (ie: more agressive rider stance and smaller seat I think)

Oh, why not just go for the Busa? I think I am getting a connection to get one of the other two at a heavily discounted price. If that is not the case, then I will stick with the busa.

What about hp and torque? How is their top end? In south FL that is all we ride top end runs down Krome or Card Sound Road, no curves, so that would be a factor, don't want something that starts dieing at 150-160....

Dos Equis

I had a 2002 XX (fooking cager killed it a few months ago) and I loved it! As far as being sporty, don't wory. It has PLENTY of sporty in it. It just doesn't get the hype of the Busa because it fell out of the running for the fastest top end bike. It's still right up there though. It didn't seem to matter how fast you were going or in what gear, this thing pulled HARD all over.

It all depends on what you are looking for though. I really don't know anything about the ZX12, but the XX didn't have much in the way of aftermarket accessories. It didn't need much though in my opinion as I loved the way it looked. Maybe a fender eliminator, new slip-ons, and a double-bubble windscreen, but thats about all I wanted to do to it.

The Busa seems to have a ton of aftermarket items, so that may be a consideration. It seems the styling of the ZX12 and XX is a little more conservative also, which I liked. I like the Busa styling too though.

All in all they seem to all be great bikes. Go and see them all and see what feels more comfortable, and also ask around about maintenance. If you are looking to put high miles on a bike I'd go for the one thats easiest to maintain. Good luck!

That's not "sport touring" !!

Straight line power and acceleration, get the Busa. Actual touring, I would go with the XX.

I have a 99 XX, been on a ZX12 and Busa. Been riding for over 25 years:) Their is no bike that has a smoother ride ( except for a 1800 Goldwing). The ZX1200 is a racebike not a sport tourer, way to much vibration. A local guy has one and he will ride with me as long as it is under 300 miles. I normally ride between 350-500.
The Busa comes close as far as comfert goes but the reliabilty is far below the Honda.
Power both ZX12 & Busa will smoke the bird, but Who gives a shit about anything over 170:) . Think about it 90 percent driving is done between 50-70 MPH.
Finally you forgot one bike that is a sport tourer the Kawaski ZZR-1200:eek: Drove one It has a little more torque than the XX but far more comfertable than the ZX1200
I put on 17.000 miles on my XX last year:cool: I can tell you anything you want to know about sporttouring. Oh I live in Western NY so I only tide 8- months out of theyear:mad:

I'm pretty much a Kawasaki man. Like bbirdxx2000, riding in comfort is probably at the top of my list. I have a 170hp ZX-11 that is easily the smoothest bike I've ever ridden. I've done a lot of things to make improvements in this area and the result is noticeably smoother than even the Honda XX, which is among the smoothest. It shows what can be done to improve things. I service a lot of bikes and I'm always amazed how uncormfortable and vibration riddled most bikes are. I got away from Harleys years ago for this very reason, so I can't forgive these problems just because they're sportbikes. Of course many bikes today are so darned uncomfortable to ride that excessive vibration isn't really a problem anyway. Like riding a Harley, a ride is measured by how many stops are made and how long you can make them. No thanks, I'd rather ride all day and feel good when I get back home. Some of the newer bikes are painful just to ride around the block. Why pay $10,000 and not be able to leave town.
