R6 Grips slipping off.

Ok This is really weird. I've already ordered new pro grips, #699. But my current grips started sliding down the clamp on yesterday and I could see the white tube underneath. Now I know the moron that put them on didn't use any glue, so I know why they're sliding. But what is that white thing? I fixed the problem by pushing the grip back on, but it's a scary thing to look down and your bar end disappeared because it's covered by the grip!

Help please :D

Real easy to fix, minfinger. All you need to do is take the grips off then spray some hair lacquer onto the surface that the grips attach to and re-fit the grips. Leave for 20 mins. or so & hey presto, they should be stuck on. ;) The white thing is the twist grip which is what the throttle cable is attached to. If you don't want to stick your existing grips on untill the pro grips arrive just wrap some insulating tape round the bar and push the grip back on. That should keep it safe 'till the new ones come.

I know what you're talking about. When I purchased my grips, the instructions that came with them specifically said not to use anything on them. I found that to be peculiar as I always used hairspray on grips. Assembled, slipped, and took off and put hairspray on them. I am swearing off all instructions from now on and will leave the soup in the can for microwaving.:D

Here's a helpful hint for installing grips if they are a bit stubborn going on, if you don't have an air compressor. Start the grip on the bar. With one hand, wrap your thumb and forefinger around the top end of the grip. With your other hand, place your palm flat over the open, bottom end of the grip. As you push with your palm, pull with your other hand. Your palm will seal air inside the grip, and as it moves up on the bar and air is trying to escape, it will inflate the grip enough to make it slide on pretty easily.
