My down pipes on my lovely F2 ZX6R are history (or at least sound it).
I went to a kwak dealership who have quoted £600 for new ones... WOT!!!!

As an option I can go aftermarket. What should I be paying, what make and what are the pitfalls.

Please help!!!

Go aftermarket

You should surely go aftermarket. I am not sure what the exchange rate is but my estimation is that for the price you were quoted for headers, you could come close to buying a full aftermarket system. I have found it is NEVER a good deal to buy OEM from the factory, I was quoted $445 for a stock exhaust can for my 2000 ZX-6R! For that price I can basically have my choice of aftermarket cans!

PS: The reason I needed a new can is because I gutted my old one, got pulled over and cited for loudness, and wanted to go back. I ended up taking it to a local muffler shop and had it muffled again for $50.;)

Are you saying the pipes are rusted through? You are sure it's not leaking at the manifold??

In any case - $600!! You can get a full system for about the same cash. Screw going back to factory, the aftermarket systems last longer anyway.
