I know this is not about an upcoming ride. But I wanted to target this geographic area. Has anyone dealt with Cycle World on Rt 40? I have bought from Petes in the past and feel they are decent people, but Cycle World is giving me a better deal over the phone. Is Cycle World reputable? Any thoughts are welcome.

I've never dealt with Cycle World, but if you are buying a new bike then go with the best deal. Hell, call some shops up in PA and see what kind of quotes you get.

I think when discussing repair/warranty work then you should worry about reputation, but the service guys won't know where you bought the bike anyway.

BTW, have you ever had any work done at Pete's? Just curious what kind of rep they have...

I bought two bikes from them in the early 80s. Never had any work done there. Some of my friends complain that they're expensive. Don't know first hand though.

Pete's (in Bel Air) is pretty expensive for service, even though I know one of the salesman well, and he's giving me a "deal" on service, it seems pretty high to me. I 'd go with Performance Cycles in Timonium, heard good things about them, or some of the other smaller, reputable shops. Of course if someone would just buy my VTR, I wouldn't have to worry about that..........
