Okay, I'm in the market for a new bike, and I'm wondering which one you guys think I should get. Here are the choices

'01 Honda VTX-1800
'01 Suzuki DR 250
'01 Yamaha R1
or
'46 Royal Enfield

Now, keep in mind that I'll be using this bike for weekday commuting, while tearing up the twisties on Sundays, so I need something that'll really function well in all aspects. I've narrowed my choices down to the above. Please help.

After looking at every web site for Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda, Buell and other Sportbike sites, I decided on the 2000 Kawasaki ZR-7 FS, which is a "naked" sportbike with a more upright riding position. The 2001 model has a half fairing and is RED. This MC is 750cc and is "old style" as regards to the engine. I think it rides great and is very comfortable--I had not ridden a MC in 20 years when I bought this one. Runs about 74 HP, weighs 450 dry, but handles great. And it's a good-looking bike. Go to WWW.ZR-7.com for pics and opinions and accessories for this bike. I paid less than $5800 for mine, another reason I like it so much. I had originally considered a Ninja 500EX, but the salesman talked me out of that, figuring I'd outgrow it fast, I think now he was right. Depends on your experience too. I adjusted to the 750 rather quickly, even though the weight of the bike bothered me a little...Good Luck and hopefully you'll get some good advice on this site. :)

Scotty, you're scaring me. :D:p

I'm going to assume you aren't joking with these choices when writing this reply. ;)

DR250 is just not enough bike for everyday. We had an XT225 Yami and the DR isn't much more of a bike. They are great bikes and I wish we still had the Yami but they are good for every day.

Judging by what you say you want, I would go with the Enfield so you can be different although that damn VTX is awesome. I am a big fan of the Enfields though.

Go with the Enfield.

I'd go with a '46 R1HondaDR.:p:D
But,if I couldn't have that then I would settle for an R1.

John, that's exactly what I was thinking. Nothing tears up the twisties like an Enfield.

Oh, and Jim, the Bullet is still faster than the Katana! :p

Whichever one has the widest rear tire, because that's all that matters - how wide your rear tire is.
