Hello everyone, I am an old member but have only recently bought my first sport bike (1995 Yamaha YZF-600) and figured I check back to this site now that I am a "legit" member. :p

As I become more in tune with my bike, I am slowly going to work my way into some stunting (stoppies first, followed by wheelies). The issue with my bike that makes this whole learning proccess more difficult, is that it was customly built and raced by a local bike dealership. Due to this, the bike has minimal electrical work and no working gauges or indicator lights.

I am wondering what wheelie learning techniques I could use to safetly learn how to wheelie without injuring myself or damaging my bike. My biggest concern is not being able to monitor my RPMs, but I'm sure with some good advice I'll manage to overcome the hurddle just fine. Thanks in advance and if you leave advice please keep in mind that I literally have no working gauges and I am basically working off of gear number and engine noise lol.

P.S. I've noticed that a lot of new riders/members get flamed in this section of the forums so let me add: I am an experienced driver of 5 years; 3 of those years opperating both vehicles and motorcycles of various types and makes. I also operated the biggest heavy haulers used in mining that can carry a payload of 450 tons... So please dont get on my :moon: about being a squid or anything like that. I completely and utterly respect the power of my bike, and I plan on learning baby-step style to ensure the saftey of myself, and those around me :thumb:

dude, you are stuck on your own. there is no actual numbers anyone can give you, since you don't have gauges. This is definetly not the bike you want to start stunting on. how could anyone ever "race" a bike without a tach is stupid.

anyways....for a stoppie you don't need a tach. do not attempt stoppies if you are traveling under 40mph, it is possible the front will just lock up. if it does lock up, immediately let go of the brake and you will be ok. so you are going at 40 light touch the front brake, then lift your ass off the seat a few inches really fast and grab the front brake hard at the same time, as the rear comes up slowly release the brake.
