Depends on the exact area. The larger cities have varying job availability, and cost of living. Most of the state has warm summers and mild winters. I ride year round on the coast with only a few weeks off when it's cold and rainy.

What is the terrain like?

I like areas that are within a 30 minute drive from a decent town (With a walmart, restaurants, etc), but no neighbors very close by when you are home. Mountains are definitely preferred. I'm not much for big cities. I like hanging out in them, but I hate living there.

What part of NC should I be looking at?

Well... mountains... you have to look into the Charlotte/Chapel Hill area. Then you are pretty close to the Blue Ridge and Deals Gap. There are plenty of small towns that are growing as time goes. Seems like NC is a growing in population all the time.

Really depends on what you do for a living. Everything is pretty much a 20 to 40 minute drive from the smaller towns. So you should find what you want.

Very cool! At the moment, I am a professional driver. A courier, to be exact. Before that, I drove school bus for 2 years... and I'd rather not go back to that again. If I chose to, I know I would have a job waiting for me before I even moved.

I also install car stereos. Last I heard, that wasn't a very high paying job in NC. I really love what I do now... that would definitely be my first choice.
