What makes you slow down? Is it gravel? Grannies? Grouchy Pavilion?

The one thing that always gets me is/are deer. Nothing that big should be running around with the brain the size of a small light emitting diode.

Other things for me are: Seeing a downed co-biker, a big slide (only temporary though), a rider I have no faith in behind me, and feeling out of rhythm.

Traffic.

The fact that morons have gone out of their way many times to prove to me that they don't see me has made me a downright paranoid rider when it comes to Minivanus Soccermomus and Camryus Sleepingcommuterus.

For some reason, after not riding for a year and a half, I am paranoid of gravel. Never used to be a problem, but I have lost TONS of confidence over that hiatus.

I feel the same way after every cold season here on the Northeast Coast.

After a couple of unexpected encounters and a panic-attack afterwards I overcome it ;)

(Insert favorite cage here) driving numb skulls who won't use the turn outs, even though there are great big signs that say "SLOWER TRAFFIC USE TURN OUTS" they just keep plodding along 15mph under the posted speed limit because their (insert brand here)Colossal/Titanic/Gargantuan- tractor tired, gas sucking, clown mobile, needs a tug boat to help it navigate. And they're rude, homicidal, (insert expletive here) :p  :D

18-wheeler trans rigs, logging rigs, B-trains carrying finished lumber, low-bed trailers hauling Cats or massive equipment, new-car trailer rigs, smashed up car trailer rigs, RVs of small or large size with or without hauling a small car or an SUV, tourists rubber-necking the hills & lakes, smaller 6 wheel trans trucks, dump trucks, cement trucks, slow local drivers & so many more on the twisty up & down 2-lane main roads with max speed of 90KPH of where one rarely reaches 70KPH behind the above, while downhill is something like 60KPH while suggested bends at 60 KPH are taken at 40 KPH with an uphill of 90KPH & now the heavy equipment is own to 30 KPH & pulling hard in lower cogs.
Oh yes these are often the main hwys in this part of Cdn & no side roads one can use for to the west are the hills (where the narrow roads are cut) & east is either the lake or a steep drop down to the lake. One should not be surprised there are delays of 30 to 40 minutes to an hr as work is being done on the hills to clear possible avalanches.

naturally...

Heinlen's 2nd law states that propensity to speed decreases as natural penis size increases. Inversely, as natural penis size decreases, propensity to speed increases.

All this is to say...I am just naturally slow...! :D

So given the above we can deduce:

1.) Morning wood explains Sunday Riders.
2.) Put ice in your underwear to win races.

Deduce what you like, but ice in the undies (or boxers, for those of us that like being free) is ALWAYS a bad idea...but always a good trick to play on an unsuspecting victim. :D

FYI: Natural size is what's important in the equation...not size in relation to ambient temperature and/or time of day.

the liquid tar sealtant the city put on/in the cracks in the streets. here in the valley of the sun arizona. when it gets hot enough, that stuff gets gooey, gummie, and slimey. if it's not spinning your tire or sliding your bike around. it's flinging off your tire onto your fairing, frame whatever.

and the girls wearing thongs wanting to wash your car for some kind of charity or relief fund. gotta love them:drool: .

Traffic !!!!!!!

The thing that slows me down is traffic. Usually I'm riding on a nice sunny sunday up a two lane highway and I get behind a large truck carrying cement, gravel, hay or some other load and he refuses to pull over (really makes me mad).
I will sometimes go riding during the week just to get away from the traffic.
Good post

over thinking every turn, every situation. I'm beginning to find that if I just shut the brain off about the basic, I ride better faster

example: If I try to speed shift to get best acceleration, if I conciously think about it, it is a shining exampler of how NOT to speed shift

If I njust shut up and do it, no problems...

anyone else experience this?
