Alrighty, I have all the gear and now I want to start to work on the bike. I have a 99' R6 (blue). and I want it so sound a bit meaner. I would like a deep tone (not loud, or raspy) clean sounding exsaust can. Who makes em'? Hands down, what brand is the best for sound, and performance, looks.. etc.. I don't care for carbon fiber.. reminds me of a ricey honda civic .. anywho.. any help would be great! Would I need to re-jet? Anything for a slip on needed? Thanks!

If you are looking a bit mellow with sound try yoshimura or akrapovic. Since you are looking for slip-ons they usually don't require rejetting...but if you get a full system then they sure do need rejetting. By the way since you don't want loud don't get D&D.

GOOD LUCK ON YOUR SEARCH.

I got a Micron slip on on my 2000 R6 and my best friend has a full akropovic system on his R1, and they sound really really similar. Hehe, there's a bit of a performance gap but the sound is great.

Thanks for the help guys, and by the way.. would fitting a slip on effect emissions in any negative way? I don't want problems passing emissions later on down the road. Thanks a bunch.. I think I will look into Micron, or yoshimura??? any websites? on-line stores? price range? Thanks, Ryan

looking into it, it looks like akropovic is a pretty good choice. How's the installation on these things? Is this something anyone can do with a screwdriver and a wrench? Price range? Looking at the akropovic website's dyno tests, it smooths out the power band quite a bit, however.. I wonder if they did a re-jet, or would I need it with that slip on? (for best results). Thanks again! -R

Ya the akro's are great, just a little pricier then most others. I can't remember where I read it or really very many details about it, but I forget some Kawasaki race team was using akropovic pipes cuz they so good but since they were sponsored by Muzzy they had to put Muzzy stickers on the Akro cans(Thats all heresay tho).

Yea for optimal results I think you'll want to rejet. I'm not too sure about the installation or prices cuz I'm somewhat lacking in my mechanical fortitude. I'd suggest just paying the pro's to do it unless you're sure you know what to do.
