Rush?!! You believe what that bloated twat has to say. I am not an "environmental wacko" but I am a scientist, one that works in environmental consulting and I can say this with utmost certainty; we ARE destroying the planet. I see it everyday.

One more thing, clear cutting is not a good idea!! The next time you suck in a breath of air or start your internal COMBUSTION engined bike you can thank the deity of your choice that there are trees.

I am not flaming YOU, just that retard Rush!

:rolleyes:whatever...

give some examples backed with evidence, then MAYBE I'll consider it...otherwise I am convinced this planet IS fine and if we continue building fuel-efficient autos and working at energy-conservation, we have nothing to worry about. I haven't had a hard time breathing lately, how about you?

I was afraid this would happen. Look, I don't want to fight and I don't have time to look up all the stats for your ass. I stand by what I said and if you don't believe I don't really give a shit. Take your head out of the sand and find them yourself.

You can not deny the fact that the the industrialization of the world did not cause any problems, can you? There wasn't smog before we industrialized, there wasn't wide spread pollution of the ground water, or the air, or the soil. I did not say the world would end tomorrow, I simply mean to point out that we are impacting the global ecosystem.

No, I am not a tree-hugging, granola eating, vegan who wears hemp clothing. I am not sounding an alarm, preaching from my soapbox, or jumping on the environmental bandwagon; I just am saying that....Oh why ****ing bother!!!!!

P.S. Look in a 4th grade science book and it will explain to you: animals take in oxygen and exhale nitrogen, trees inhale nitrogen and exhale oxygen. It is a process called respiration (look it up if you don't know what it means). Clear cutting trees is not a good idea.

Twat

Ya you sure sound like Scientist.

Nice to know you are a level headed and unbiased professional.

Obviouslyt you must identify with the "environmental whackos" because you took great offense at the article.

When you can counter each and every one of the points made in the article then people will listen to you without laughing.

I knew this would be fun!!!

By the way, if you have eyes you can plainly see that Mr Limbaugh is no more overwight than you are.

I didn't ask you to look anything up for me, just to back up what you said. If you're truly a scientist, then you shouldn't have to look anything up to back up a general statement like yours.

BTW: Why you being insulting, I wasn't, was I?

I didn't try to deny anything, except that we are DESTROYING the Earth. Affecting it; yes. Beyond repair; no.

I like Granola! :D

Insulting again...I don't understand why you react like this. I am not stupid or thick-headed, I just wanted some evidence for what you stated in your previous post, that's all. Lighten up a bit and try to be a bit more informative, and a bit less insulting. It'll really help your credibility, and you KNOW I'm right. :)

CBR Brutha, Sorry for the rant, I didn't mean to be insulting (actually I did, sorry I'm a prick).

GreenNinja.. scientists can have potty mouths too and how the hell do you know what I look like? Was that you peeking in the bathroom window last night while I was in the shower? Sick bastard!.

Let me try to explain myself in a (slightly more) civil manner. I am a hydrogeologist (a geologist who specializes in the study of groundwater). I work for an environmental consulting firm and I spend every working day finding, tracking, evaluating, and trying to remediate (clean up) contaminated soil and groundwater, so don't tell me it doesn't exist. When contaminants (radionuclides, volatile organic compounds, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, pesticides, herbicides, Polychlorinated Biphenyls, Phenols, esters, ethers, chlorinated solvents, metals, inorganic compounds, etc. get into the soil and groundwater they don't just disappear, they render that media useless for consumption by human, animal, and flora. If that is not destroying, I don't know what is. Eventually (not in your lifetime), the earth could biologically and chemically breakdown the contaminants if we stopped polluting, but we don't (degradation time varies by chemical so if you are really that interested, look it up yourself) so the natural degradation processes can't keep up.

Let me pose this question to you, if pollution presents no problems than why are there laws prohibiting it? why are there places where nothing grows and nothing lives? I have some property in Chernobyl to sell, you interested?. You know, just because it doesn't affect you directly (and it does, you just to myopic to realize it) doesn't mean it is not a problem.

I guess, technically, I agree with the statement that we are not destroying the earth. We are destroying ourselves. The earth will be here a long time after our arrogant race is gone.

Don't believe me, I don't care. Keep listening to Rush Limblow and keep polluting, it's job security for me!

It's all good bro. Just wanted to let you know that's how you were coming across, and if you want people to respect what you're saying, you gotta say it in a respectable way.

Pollution does present problems. I never said it didn't. What I did say is that I do not believe it is destroying the Earth the extent to which some would have us believe. I support some of the laws, and working for Ford Motor Co., I am directly affected by some of them. I think they are good though, because they cause us as designers to be more responsible and think about the short and long-term effect of the products we produce.

Yes Squidwannabe, I guess if you view that opinion as stupid, then that I am.

I saw a spot on Discovery about the same thing.. On how every 10,000 years the planet's ice caps melt and so on.

I don't think people need the impression that we aren't hurting the planet.. Just my opinion.

Like I said earlier. Sorry to everybody I offended. I admit I can be caustic and quite a prick sometimes. I guess we all have unbecoming personality traits, mine are just blatantly obvious.

Sorry to GreenNinja, unless you were the person outside my bathroom window.

This probably won't be the last time I offend someone on this forum, so apologies in advance

Peace to all and I'll see you on the road. :D

P.S. Thanks Adam for having my back on this one.

Umm yeah ok, sure.. (???)

I am a hydrogeologist (a geologist who specializes in the study of groundwater....contaminated soil and groundwater, ....the soil and .... If that is not destroying, I don't know what is. ...the earth could....chemically breakdown the contaminants if we stopped polluting, but we don't (degradation time varies by chemical so if you are really that interested, look it up yourself) so the natural degradation processes can't keep up.
Thats all well and good, and i completely agree with you on your points in THAT regard. But you are missing the point of the article, (if you actually read it) The article is discussing GLOBAL WARMING. Regardless of the extremist title, the content is focused on one issue.

Groundwater is one thing, global warming is another

Let me pose this question to you, if pollution presents no problems than why are there laws prohibiting it?
Just as CBRBrutha said in his reply i will also say i never said i was an advocate of pollution. (????????) You sure do jump to alot of conclusions!

why are there places where nothing grows and nothing lives? I have some property in Chernobyl to sell, you interested?. You know, just because it doesn't affect you directly (and it does, you just to myopic to realize it) doesn't mean it is not a problem.
"Myopic"
"sick bastard"
"limblow"

You really are a piece of work. Its amazing how much rhetoric one guy can contiunually spew when faced with a differing opinion, posed in a professional manner. Someone needs to grow up.

I guess, technically, I agree with the statement that we are not destroying the earth.
Thats the first intelligent thing youve said in this thread.

We are destroying ourselves. The earth will be here a long time after our arrogant race is gone.
And that is the second intelligent thing youve said in this thread. I agree wholeheartedly.

Don't believe me, I don't care.
And the third intelligent thing youve said.

Keep listening to Rush Limblow and keep polluting, it's job security for me!
How very mature. I bet you voted for Al Gory and Billy Clintoon and Jimmy Carteratotatopator. Ya yer really witty.

Now i gotta reiterate the whole point of the article wasnt to say pollution is good, and we are not in ANY WAY hurting ANY aspect of our environment. The points made (and made vERY clearly) were that

A) Scientists have found extremely contradictory findings when it comes to Global warming, both historically, scientifically, and factually.

B) Society will always believe the bad news, rarely the good news.

C) There is ALOT of money to be gotten in Research and publishing of Scientific Findings. Many High profile studies have been funded by Political Agenda groups whose cause was directly supported by the said funded scientists/labs. This works on both ends of the argument.

If you, as a professional Scientist are too offended by these realities and observations than you shouldnt be a scientist.

We can give a group of scientists 30 million dollars and they can prove just about anything i want then to prove.

The facts remain that Global warming is a trend that is being claimed by environmentalist and used for political purposes. There ARE scientific studies, as reported in the article, and lots of others that were not even mentioned, that rip the global warming theorist apart. IE, greenhouse effect, etc etc. Many things can actually cause global cooling.

And lets not forget all the cows in the world. Methane is POISON, and also destroys our environment.

As far as Mr Limbaugh. I havnt insulted Nader who could easily be seen as MORE extreme than Limbaugh. I dont need to resort to 3rd grade name calling to express my feelings.

Moreover, Limbaugh was making a SARCASTIC and IRONIC point in his statement that clearcutting trees with eliminate global warming. It is a theory that has been heavily shown to be valid in many credible scientific studies. He does not say that cutting down all the trees is a nice thing to do or even a smart thing to do, but simply illustrates the HYPOCRISY in the whole topic. Politically correct does NOT mean squat when it comes to hard science.

I love trees, i love nature and the wilderness, but ill be long gone and so will most humans as we know it before the earth "dies"

(Barring a religious apocalypse of some sort)

Rush is a pretty level headed guy and if you actually listened to him for a week you might realize this.

Youd be surprised how many left leaning Americans have rethought thier opinions of him and actually found themselves in agreement with his views after listening.

Im sure you will "refuse to listen" to such a "fat something or other". So much for keeping an open mind.

Give it a try.

I wasn't old enough to vote when Carter ran for president and just for the record, Carter put our nuclear industry in the crapper with his non-proliferation crap. FYI, I didn't vote for Gore.

BTW, thanks for the compliment. I am a piece of work.

Sorry, to piss you off, Greenie. I was just speaking my mind. That's OK with Rush isn't it?

BTW - According to your profile, we have a lot in common. Age, mountaineering, rock climbing, bikes, etc. You wouldn't happen to know a good place to climb around Durango, CO would you? I am heading out there in June.

NO WAY

There is no way we can destroy the planet, even if we tried.

A good and loving God created our universe. Doesn't it seem arrogant to believe that us puny humans could ruin it? After all, we can't even divorce each other ("What God puts together, let no man tear asunder"). Planet earth is undeniably beautiful (glory be to God) and unbelievably resilient. Have no fear, infidels. God, in His wisdom and His mercy, would never allow us to spoil His creation.

Well, I am from oregon (remember the Spotted Owl?), and you all don't even want to get me started on timber cutting. So I'll avoid that and instead point you to the recent study that says that ever ice pack in the world is receding.......except one. That one is the pack at Antartica. Funny....isnt the "supposed" hole in the ozone layer, the one thats going to kill us all, centered right above the south pole? Funny thats its such a major bad thing and that icepack is the only one that isnt melting. Oh wait, maybe that means we are heading for another ice age. Quick, stock up on blankets and bottled water...........

BTW, the reason that I'm in the military now is because of Muther-Fuuking hippies who scared Slick Willy into shutting down the timber cutting that was threatening their precious mary J patch. I guess maybe they bought the shutdown kinda like a pardon. Dope for favors????

Yes, I own a big Chain-Saw, I also Rock Climb, I do not smoke dope, and I enjoy hunting. Yes, I am a redneck. No I am not racist. GET THE PICTURE??
