I have a '98 TLS and I have noticed that I have used the tire up to the edge on the back, but the front tire has about 1/2" on either side that has not hit the road. I don't know if that is good or not? I am wondering what can be done to use more of the front tire or should I not worry about it. Thanks

You have to do high-speed, high-lean-angle turns to get all of the front tire. It's because of the rake and trail. do some track time.

If your getting the front tire all the way over on the street than you are on the fast track to death. I used to wonder the same thing. I wondered if it was even possible to get that front over to the edge. It is possible, and all you have to do is get to the track. :)

Good question. A friend of mine, who alas,
is no longer with us, had a 1000s also. Same
thing, rear was worn right to the edge but the
front had about 1/2 inch on either side. The
guy could definitley ride.

I noticed the same thing on the R1. On the
rear.. There are no marks, it is worn TO the
edge. About a month ago I had about 1/4 inch
on either side of the front. Now I have
about an 1/8 inch left on the front. The only
reason I got it further over is b/c I went
to Shamokin, which is the closest thing to
the track I have found. Also, the new front
tire I purchased seems to perform better than
the one that came with the bike, even though
they were the same tire.

Just my 2 Cents.

Anyone got a rear tire I can borrow?

A whole hour away for a great road?!? You'd better get a trailer!
