Hi folks,

Dropped in from the UK to see if anything's new round here...

Bit peeved at the moment as the bike ('01 748R) is again off the road. 2500 miles after the engine rebuild the gearbox has now started playing up. I think it easy enough to sort but does mean the motor has to come out again!!!! and the cases will have to be split (BUMMER!!!!!!)... 2005 has been a pretty crappy year so far bike wise.

Posting a few pics to cheer myself up of how it was when it was scaring the wildlife of Yorkshire.

nice bike guy!

cheer yourself up some more and tell me all about your mods.

btw, what's up with the sliders on your plain street bodywork and nothing on that beautiful track bodywork? i don't believe in sliders anyways, at least not on ducs, but that has me confused.

Mikey,

Regarding the sliders, in the link I posted above is all the detail (including piccies) as to why I HAD sliders on my bike and why I took them off....

As far as the mods go. I have a friend in the village who does alot of work for the race teams. He did factory Ducati's about 2 years ago. When my engine went bang on track shortly after those "track-trim" photos were taken, I sent it to him to be rebuilt.

To save costs for me Vs dealer pricies, he used some left over parts he had knocking around his workshop. Luckily for me these were ex-Ducati Corse factory items.....

List is as follows...

Neil Hodgson's 2001 Corse Crank (bigger throw increases displacement to 772cc)
James Toseland's Corse Pankl titanium rods
Factory primary gear
Factory water pump (bigger impeller - better cooling)
Gregorio LaVilla's factory slipper clutch

As far as my own mods, they're as follows:

Braking Wave discs (rotors) front and rear
Harris Rear sets
Ohlins damper (not standard on 2001 748R)
Evoluzione oversized clutch slave cylinder
Carbon front mudguard/fender
Carbon shock guard
Carbon heel plates
Carbon hugger/chainguard
Carbon tank guard (tank is signed by Carl Fogarty)
Carbon Sprocket cover
Carbon Clutch Cover
Carbon Swingarm guard
Carbon Exhaust shield
Carbon 45mm termi's
Tecmoto Bi-hex alloy rear wheel and sprocket nuts
STM quick-release carrier and sprocket
Kellerman Micro indicators
3-way bullet-cam video system with remote changer (box seen on bars in the pics above)
Marchesini Magnesium wheels (mainly for track use)

Think that's about it. Hope my wife never reads this otherwise that's me divorced for spending all my funds on an inanimate object named a Ducati!!!!!

that would make two of us!!!

now would your friend have another corse crank and factory water pump/impeller? those are a few objects i'd like to put on my 853r.

your baby sounds pretty sweet...got any dyno numbers to show off?

No dyno numbers yet Mikey,

I didn't have the bike back long enough to get it on a dyno. Only had it back for 2500 miles after the rebuild before the gearbox started playing up.

With my photography commitments I just haven't had chance to look at it so its been sat in my garage ever since. Now the race season's over I hope to get the motor out in the next month to 6 weeks and then a friend will help me strip it and find the bgearbox problem which I think is to do with selectors/dog gears (whatever they are - technical numpty that I am!!).

From my brief runs out on the Duke, it was a completely different beast. Loads more mid range and span up quicker. Loved it, so was gutted when 4th gear started playign up.

Which 853 kit do you have......the Ferraci one??? Tis a mod I've thought about heaps but the 772R I have has stemmed that desire for the time being.

I guess you'll be pushing 125bhp now will you...?

i'm running the bcm kit. good guess i'm right at 125hp/65tq.

there's still a few ponies hiding inside since i haven't had any real tuning done or picked up an akra full system. guy martin worked my heads but without the akra system i'm not seeing the full potential of his work...what a shame on me.

Say bro, don't worry. I went through the same thing with my 1997 916 about three months ago. The weather was great, all of my friends were riding, and I was stuck at home working on my starter and gears. But, after it's all done, it's worth it to ride a Duc. Hope you get it worked out soon. :thumb:

Spent a day down at a friend's workshop 'playing' with my motor last week before the Christmas shutdown.

Have to say a big thank you to Neil for all his help and watchfull 'eyeing'..

Cases are now split (again).

Thought you might like some more 'Ducati porn'

Marking the pistons before we remove them

The cases coming apart

The real pornographic sexy bits...Hodgson's CORSE crank and Toseland's rods.

as you can never get enough of this sort of thing....the crank and rods again.

The problem area...somewhere in this mass of metal there's a glitch which we will aim to identify tomorrow.

Best wishes to you all for the season.
