This was a pretty interesting story from The Sunday Wichita Kansas Eagle Newspaper a couple of weeks ago.

A resident in the area saw a ball bouncing around kind of strange in a nearby pond and went to investigate. It turned out to be a flathead catfish that had obviously tried to swallow a child's basketball, which then became stuck in its mouth!!

The fish was totally exhausted from trying to dive, but unable to because the ball would always bring him back up to the surface. The resident tried numerous times to get the ball out, but was unsuccessful. He finally had his wife cut the ball in order to deflate it and release the hungry catfish.

Believe it, or not?

Hi All-

That fish is really ugly! It looks like it has whiskers and other gross stuff.

Hence the name: catfish. Have you never seen one before?

They're about as useless as real cats too. The only thing either one is good for is food. :2cents:

Depends on what type of water they're caught in. Running water, with rock / pebble bottom is great. Still water, with muddy bottom tastes like sh*t IMO.

But okay, let's say you've caught yourself a "muddy water" Catfish. Wanna know the best way to cook it?

Stick the fish, whole, in a big pot of boiling water. Throw a 6-inch nail into the pot. Allow the pot to boil dry. Throw away the fish and eat the nail.

THAT's how tasty a "muddy water" catfish is! :barf:

actually, soaking a muddy water catfish fillet in cream/half&half for 24 hours does wonders for the muddyness. its still not as good as farm raised or running watered but its makes it taste TONS better.
