so if you get a slip-on for a given bike (in my case, 04 R6), are power commanders a requirement to make the exhuast work properly? i know nothing about this area. any insight would be helpful. thanks!

I would highly recommend the Power Commander after you modify the air flow in any way.
It's about $300 It allows you to tune your FI to very specific values using a palm pilot or PC. You can install it yourself then there are approved shops that will dyno and tune the unit for about another 300 bucks. Once that's done it's done! And you will be amazed!!! Check out their page. http://powercommander.com
I got mine from these guys at a good price. http://www.kyleusa.com

I was looking at 2 brothers exhaust for my 600RR and they are saying not to change the stock airbox aka K&N. I wander why, also on the power commander downloadables it has 2brothers with stock airbox.

I would think that the more airflow the better but I guess not any ideas?

I have been told by many people that you DONT need a powercommander with a slip on.. Unless you have a k&n and want to really tweak out the system. My thoughts on power commanders is that you aught to have it dynoed because every bike is a lil different and the only true way to harness the power is making a custom map...
