OK GUYS HERES THE DEAL SHOULD I SWING THE 04 R1 OUT? I NEVER RODE AN EXTENDED BIKE, DOES IT HANDLE BADLY AROUND CURVES? CAN I GO 140-150 AROUND A BEND ON 696? TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION I WANNA TRY AND PUT OVER 220 TO THE WHEEL NEXT SUMMER, N/A. TURBO MAYBE IN THE FUTURE.. ANYONE KNOW A GOOD PLACE TO PULL MY HEAD OF, PUT CUSTOM CAMS..AND FULLY PORT THE HEAD? AND GEARING WHAT SHOULD I DO AS FAR AS SPROKETS...I WANNA HIT OVER 200 BUT I ALSO WANNA GET THERE AS FAST AS POSSIBLE YA KNOW...AND WHAT IS A 520 CHAIN CONVERSION...HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED

520 is a smaller chain...ie lighter drivetrain...ie weaker. If your going to turbo it you can't use a 520. 6-8" over yea you will for sure notice a handling difference...personally...I'm not about it. My advice? Headwork/cams/lower the bike slightly and lower the gearing...fine...but steer clear of 150 around a bend on 696...you will live longer bro. You'll need taller gearing and probably a turbo to get over 200 on your bike. If anything I would go slightly lower since first gear is already pretty tall on those things. But anyway, aerodynamics become important when your going that fast. Takes less HP for a busa to go 200 than it would your bike...something to think about if your trying to break the land speed record here. btw vito you sound like a squid on this post...don't get offended with what people post. Just giving you a heads up cause I can already see it.

You are kidding right?! A 520 conversion is on your list of questions about building a 220hp motor for your 200 plus mph "wet dream". 140-150 in a bend on 696 is your benchmark for handling! You know you dont need both front rotors right? Who needs the extra weight? Besides you probably only use the back most right! Sportbikes have a short wheelbase for a reason. Nicky Haydens RC211V makes more than 220 rwhp with a 520 chain and a 53.5-55 in wheelbase. I wont tell you how much money you will need to spend to get to 220hp. Look into that while you are researching what a 520 conversion is. :rolleyes:
Maybe you should get your insurance estimate ahead of time!

P.S. Turn off CAPS, thats rude to yell we can all read.

i thought about it and this post has to be a joke. No retard in their right mind would openly admit to doing 150 on 696, let alone wanting 200mph. There is a reason that there are speed limits. I'm sure if your parents start looking now, they can get you a decent deal on your burial plot.

well stated, but you forgot to remove the passenger pegs so that the state does not have to pay for to vegetable trays

WTF is wrong with everyone? Vito simply told ya his goals and asked some generic questions about some upgrades, ie the "520 thing." Get the F-ck of his back! Especially you BMACD or I'm gonna bring out the porno pics of you and Donny!

With that said, start posting some productive facts...its obvious that extending the swingarm ain't gonna help the bike handle better in corners.

Vito...I'd start by addressing "Ducati1" with his blue/silver busa, lowered, and swing arm. He has the HP you expect to achieve, and similiar upgrades. I've ridden with him and he seems to do fine through curves on the interstate at higher than average speeds, just don't ask him to swing in and out of a parking spot in the blink of an eye!

Ducati1 bike is 5inches over and that make a 62-63 inch wheelbase, on an R1 6 over will only make you about 59-60 over so that really isn`t that bad, mine is currently 9 over and it kinda sucks for high speed highway riding.

But anyways to make it easier on you isn`t Alan your boy he can hook you up with everything:2cents:

OK...I hope you have deep pockets, 220 RWHP is going to cost more than the original price of the bike. You WILL NOT get it with just cams and headwork, if someone tells you otherwise they are lying. Between big bore and stroke with custom crank, rods, pistons and pins plus the headworkd and cams....if you have the cash it can be done. As far as having the head done...only one place to have Yamaha headwork/cams done. GRAVES...call Chuck...but you may be suprised what it costs. 520 chain will work, it has more tensile strenght (my DID ) than the stocker.

You will handle like shit with any extension to your swing arm...no way around it. You have to decide what you can live with....and if you are lowered as well you will drag hard parts and it will fight you around corners. The idea of lengthening the bike is so it handles better in straights. You cna't have both worlds...not gonna happen.


If you want the work done and have the cash...bring it on. We can prep it for shipping to Graves...

As far as performance goes, you'd get lot more bang for buck if you go to forced induction.

I dont see how you'd be able to gain 50-60 hp with just cams and porting though. For that kinda gain you'd need custom heads with higher compression.

drag bike

well i have my swingarm extended and personally i think mine rides better on the freeway. the only thing i would say is that if i was building a dragbike, an r1 would not be my choice. u dont see them at pro star events for a reason.....busa baby...:twofinger
