Opted to pick up my second ride that I'd been asking advice on recently. Its an '05 Kawi ZX-6R, or 636 as its most commonly referred. Took quite a while to find a Titanium close enough to me to go for it. Seems like Kawi green is popular to manufacture since they're like gnats in mid-summer. For those who haven't read me, here's the scoop on the first major crash.

Having taken the back-end body apart I've found that more than a few of the stock screws are missing, so I'll have to round those up and I have only one "clip" (gold colored thingy) that I haven't figured out how it gets used. Pictures and description welcome but I think it has to do with securing the left tail body work.

Took the back body work apart to put on a plate holder and integrated brake/turn signal light. Pics don't reflect this yet, sorry. Front stalk are next on my list.

Former owner used the bike in three track days and the tires show the wear. He removed the stock plate holder, thus my new one and probably the cause for the missing bolts. Looked it over carefully while I had it stripped down and there certainly are no signs of damage anywhere, so I think she's pretty pristine. Overly frequent synth oil changes.

Been too personally busy to put all this together for public consumption until now, but bought her a couple weeks back, just got her titled last Thursday and the plate went on Saturday. Rain this morning and a long day prevented me from bringing her in today but Wed-Fri sure are looking good.

Picked up some A* SP-1 gloves off Ebay for ~$50 which fit very tightly; I'm hoping for a little give over time. Also picked up a Shoei X-11 to replace the old lid that's long-gone. Not sure but the visor connections look very similar to my old RF-900's so I'm hoping the blue shield will fit. Otherwise I'll have to get another for the sunny days.

Rear stand and tool kit are on their way to my place from the original owner who forgot to bring them out to the meet point. Then I'll start looking at new tires and hope to do them myself. We'll see. BTW, I'd welcome PMs with leads for a service manual; TIA.

Having ridden it a bit, the bike inspires much more confidence in me than my starter miniceptor. The ride is lower and there's just a feeling of greater grip on the road for more angle and attendant speed in turns. Probably an artifact of the weight generally being lower.

Anywho, warning I'll be back on the road on two again.

Hi kanwisch-

Welcome back to the world of two wheels! Hope the aches n' pains are gone and you're feeling like a million bucks again. The new bike looks fantastic...I think silver/titanium is just a superb choice for serious motorcycles.

I'm not sure if something like that would even register on my holy-shit-this-is-fun-o-meter, after the beast I've been riding. Let's start with just looking at it....I'm not sure if I would let myself ride it yet. Do I want to? Hell yeah!! I don't however want to drop the thing!

We'll definitely have to get together sometime though....anything going on at Putnam this year?

STT's there on July 29th, we already missed the April 8 day  So far I think our schedule's clear but of course I control nothing on our schedule.

yay just intime for summer. hey how are those rf-900 ? fitting wise and such
The 900 was a really good helmet, especially for keeping me cool. That said, the X-11 fits me in a much more superior way and the two models below the 11 fit differently so I couldn't cheap out

The shield from the 900 doesn't fit :crying: Too small for the larger volume of the 11. Bummer.
