Hey everyone, I bought a bike over the fall, kept it in a garage for the winter, and am now ready to register and insure it.

My question is, which comes first? It seems like you need to provide proof of insurance at the DMV to register your vehicle, but insurance companies demand proof of registration before they sell you a policy.

I am very confused by all of this, can any of you clarify?

I live in Utah if it helps :dunno:

Call an insurance agent and tell them you want to insure the bike. Have the VIN, manufacturer, and model info handy. They don't care, really, if its been registered because, for instance, you might want coverage the moment you pay for the used bike and it obviously can't be registered at that point!

To register in most places you'll have to have a bill of sale and the title, both of which need to be signed by the former owner. Take them to you Dept of Motor Vehicles (or whatever its called in Utah).

Get an M endorsement on your license. Take the MSF. Blah blah blah (see stickie at top of this forum).
