Just picked up my R1 a few weeks ago. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D It is almost broken in-960 miles. Right now we are just living together, but soon we will be married :p. I'm still a little over cautious, but I will grow out of it. the only modification I feel the need to do is S.S. brake lines-anyone have any recomendations. Are they even neccesary?

my buddy has fastlines (i think) on his 99 r1 with ebc hh street pads. the brakes are awesome.

i can't wait for my lines and pads to come to see if they are remotely as good as his.

Tony, which lines and pads are you going with?

fastlines or goodridge (can't remember, they've been on back order since early june) and ebc hh street pads. i think they'll be here soon, that's what jb said yesterday.

my fzr has fastlines and ebc hh kit pads. they stop now!!! and that's with two piston calipers. they actually stop better than my friend's r1 with lines and hh street pads, but the kits pads aren't supposed to be used on the street. they do seem to be holding up on the track too

they're all about the same. my friend has the kevlar on his r1 and they say they feel about the same as the ss lines, but they look nicer (and cost more).

kyle (river_runner) i think has kevlar as well...

I put on Galfer front & rear SS brake lines on my Y2K R1, love 'em! Makes huge difference. Stoppies-R-Us. Puts the "feel" back into braking.

Cheers
