Top Speed: 157mph (Done on a track not the Hwy.)
Fuel Light comes on at about 120 miles.
No Power Commander since my 01 is carburated. Have helped a few guys with there PC3's and they seem to work great.
I love my R1 and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. (Except for maybe an 03 R1.)
mine is a Y2K and I lu- hu-hu-huv it. My gonads started to tighten up at about 142mph-plus I was to busy staring at the road to look at the speedo to often. then I ran out of asphalt and to bring it down.
I got my 03 R1 back in January. This bike rocks. The looks are
just unreal. I'm not a speed demond, so I've only had it up to
maybe 130 or so. If you just cruise the bike does good on gas.
I'd say the low to mid 40 mpg. My fuel light comes on around
160 or so miles. I just put on a Scorpion highmount exhaust
on it. The sound is great, not super loud. Just that sweet mellow
tone throughout the power curve. On the Scorpion the PC3 is
not required. It runs great without it. If you go with a full system
then the PC3 is a must. Over all I'm soooo in love with my R1.
You just have to have good throttle control over the bike. The
front tire likes to leave the ground in first gear, but you can
control it. Nice and easy to flick in the curves, nibble and light.
I hit an indicated 182 on my '02 between Yuma and Gila Bend, AZ. Pretty much the middle of nowhere. I have a Devil High-Mount Slip-on, PC III, K & N airfilter and homemade airbox modification. Bike runs awesome. Pulls like a mutha.... I also went down 1 tooth in the front. Just about to 28,000 miles now...
Top Speed: 155 (went 175 on my old 99 R1. I'm not a big speeder that's why I have not done it on my 02 R1)
Fuel around: 125 miles
No power comander
Bike works very well

i have seen 186 a few times... texas back roads.. of course i know the speedo is off.... depending on riding.. fuel light comes on at 90 - 130. i have a 98.. the ONE that started it all.. with 55000 miles...track and street....and i don't see me ever letting it go
On Friday I raced an Audi S4 down US 27 in South Florida. I paced him up to 170, and passed him at 180+. I'm not sure how accurate the speedo is, but I'm running an oversize rear tire, so it should be close.
Red 04 R1 it is sweet. 145mph on the highway in lest than 5 sec. then backed off. was doing about 65 then hit 1st gear lifted the front wheel and i was gone. 2nd gear then 3rd then had to go home a clean my shorts. 120 miles per tank
Ok so I'm looking at buying a 06 r6 and shifting into 2nd and up it clunky or knocks and revs high then the rmps drop back to normal. The guys says there is 4k miles on it. It does go through all of the gears but I'm worried about the clunking sounds. Can anyone tell me what it is? I'm just...
ok so i know that beginners are not supposed to be on 1000s, but usually the person who asks if he should get a 1000 has no experience or rode a 85cc dirt bike a few times. Im sort of stuck on my decision on what bike to get and why, so i figured some of you guys could help me out.
