OK, who is in for a SBR series using a standard (and cheap bikes) in the interests of creating a level playing field and making it more affordable to the masses. There is of course no reason why people can't keep track riding there current bike (or even entering superbike races on them if they still have the time and money).

Current options:

1. Stick to racing expensive roadbikes.
2. Buy race only (or second had grey imports) bikes (600 4s) in bulk from a manufacturer at a cheap price.
3. Buy budget bikes without much in the way of fairings etc (Fasers or SV650s for eg) that are road legal and can be raced on different circuits.
4. Start a supermotard series!!! (although riding to Sepang on a KTM might equate to a weekend of slow torture!). Great for PG though and they easily be converted for pure off-road riding.
5. Bugger racing, buy a load of lap timers and just do track days.

What does everyone think??

You forgot a couple

All buy motorcrossers and run each other over at every opportunity.
All by a Play station, get Ian to set up a games server and race from the comfort of our sofa's. (no need to wash or fix a virtual bike)

Cheeper racing is a good objective, organising it is a full time occupation.
The Asia Pac is probaly the cheepest option available with two sets of tyres per round for an entrance fee of 200 USD.
With 600 supersport regs there are limited money no object implications.
Lets see what comes out of Sepang next year, there could be a 600 supersport series in the pipe line that will have a tyre sponsor to keep the costs down.
As for one make series, I dont want to be on a lemon like the rest of you, being at the back isnt any fun:twofinger
I do a naked bike series though.

600 supersports can end up as costly as the rest with tyre warmers and all the trick go fast bits. Regs on mods might help but still.

They are in the process of building a supermotard track at our local goat track raceway (Broadford - will be there tomorrow for interclub races)... thinking a few of us over here should get into it too.

Popular choices are the Yamaha YZ426 or KTM LC4 with some deep cut rubber and your good to go!!! :D Ongoing and crash costs are all but non-existant and wheelies, wheelies are encouraged weeeeeeeeeeee :p
