I found one near my home for $1800 with 9000 miles. My question is are parts for it readily available considering it is 10 years old?

It shoulnt be too much of a problem, given the age of the internet. Check ronayers.com a bikebandit.com they both provide bike diagrams for their parts, so if they have the diagrams for your bike, they can hook you up with parts.

Sounds like a good starter!
It will provide plenty of chalanges for the first season, and should you decide to skuff up the pain abit, it wont hurt nearly as bad.
It really sucks braking brand new expansive plastics... I've done that.

Parts availability will be as good as it gets. That bike is unchanged since '94 except for color schemes and standardizing the lower half fairing that was an option on models prior to 2000 or so. Same part, just made standard. If it's in good shape, it's technically as good as a new one.
