Word here at PPIR is Nicky Hayden just dropped out of the 600 Supersport race to concentrate on his run for the Superbike championship. The news spread quickly after his 600 Honda sat on pit row during practice.

Quote from AMA web site:

"We're gonna lay off the SuperSport class this weekend," Hayden confirmed. "The Superbike title is really important to them (Honda) and there's no secret that we need any advantage we can get. Maybe if we can concentrate 100 percent on Superbikes we might get a little advantage. I don't know what we'll be doing for Willow Springs yet."

Things didn't go well for young master Hayden and Honda at the first Superbike practice yesterday! Nicky kept bringing the RC51 back in several times and after the 1st. session, they took the #69 RC51 and tore it down!! :(

Since Nicky didn't get much practice time and he has "no chance" at the 600 SS title this year, Honda decided to concentrate on the Superbike win at PPIR and blow off the 600 SS race.

Before the lighting cause a Red Flag, Nicky was up to 8th. but both the Suzuki's and the Ducati's were running in the top 5!! Honda's got it's work cut out for them this weekend!!

FYI
