BMW/Triumph of Santa Cruz (CA, USA) has some excellent photos and info on the new Beemer on their web site.
http://www.bmwscruz.com/menu.html

Engine: 1130cc, 85 HP, four-valves per cylinder
700W alternator
Six-speed tranny
More powerful front disc brakes
120/70-ZR17 front tire
170/60-ZR17 rear tire

Check it out. I know it isn't exactly a sport bike, but with the right modifications...

Hoo boy, I set myself up for that one, didn't I?

Was the "here piggy piggy" a comment on the 238 kg empty weight?

Not exactly a sportbike? Well, probably so, but with the arguably the best suspension and brakes on the market, and superb handling, the BMW is quite a machine. Plus plenty of power, and excellent resale value. Also, the R is a lot less than 17K. Granted, BMW does not support a race team, but they do know how to make bikes.
