I was wondering what the chances are for Yamaha to field a R1 Factory Superbike team. I enjoyed watching the AMA Superbike race, but as I watched the Suzuki GSXR1000's and Honda CBR1000RRs, I started thinking about what an R1 Superbike ridden by the likes of DiSalvo, Hacking, Gobert, and Buckmaster could do. Speed Channel doesn't show Superstock at a convenient time for anybody to watch either. The R1 is one hell of a motorcycle, and it's a shame that Yamaha doesn't go all out and field a factory Superbike.

HUH? What? You are aware that Yamaha came out with a new R1, right? They remade it for 2002 and then again this year. Totally different bike now.

They dont run it in Superbike because of the rules. Its either superbike or superstock, the factory cant run in both.
