Is there anything besides RainX that will get the rain to run off the visor of my helmet? I heard cooking oil works just as good but have never tried it. I am leaving in 4 1/2 hours for a riders safety course and it is raining. Any quick tips would be greatly appreciated!

cooking oil should be ok, haven't tried it, I just wipe it. stay away from thin oils though, like gun oils, wd40, baby oil, armor all, ect as they can damage the plastic and make it brittle.

Inexpensive PLEDGE is a WAX that will leave a wax finish on the soft plastic of your FF Helmet, the helmet itself & will clean as well.

I have been using Pledge, but tried others, since I started using plastid face shields to other helmets & FF Helmets (these since the mid 70s), plus the plastic of my fairing visor to even doing the painted fairing.

Still carry along with you a smaller container of ANY make of "Plastic Protectant" like Armor-All, 303, Pledge, Plexus, & others. PLUS a CLEAN soft cotton cloth or cloth used for car paint buffering, I use what is left of T-Shirts, sweat-shirts, to old vinel sheets toren intio many small pieces, plus many stores carry the vivinel in bulk to be used in so many ways.

I do a LOT of hrs almost 3 to 4 or 5 days of the week & each run is like 5 to 8 hrs each time WHICH means I have to stop, remove the helmet & clean it while taking that break.

DO NOT USE PAPER SHEETS OF PAPER, as used in the kitchen, the shop or such, as they are scratches on the soft plastic!!!!!!!!!!!!

May sound odd, but POTATO works, too. The starch in it does the work.

Got that tip years ago from an Uncle who used it on his cage after his wipers failed. :thumb:
