Can anyone help me any mods that I should do to this bike, I mean gettign started and all. I been reading some magazines and every seems to have a steering dampener, and I was thinking of a bolt on. Any replies would be much appreciated.

What's up? I'm looking at the gixxer 750 also for my second bike (right now I own a Suzuki SV650S). I'm also looking at the R-6, TL1000R and maybe the R-1. Anyway how was the change from the 500 to the 750 and any other features that are different from the ninja(power, handling, ride comfort). how much did you pay?

It's a lot bigger and riding it the past couplel of days, It's a little uncomfortable, but i'll get used to it. I felt that the r6 was a lot lighter, but reading all of the mags, I felt that this was going to be the best bike for awhile. I paid 7486 for the bike plus tax title and license. Did not have to pay the doc or prep fees that the try to gross you on.

The best modification for a GSX-R1000 or 750 is a nice bike trailer. You'll be able to really put on some serious miles. :D
Trailer is a good thing to get, good for hauling the bike to trackdays!!! There you can spank the Kaw's....oh wait a minute, I do not even think I have seen one of those heavy pieces of shiot at the track this yr. LOL!!!

I think the most common MOD's are going to be the TRE MOD and the PAIR MOD. I agree that the springs need to be replaced in the forks, if you are going the track. You really do not need to mod this bike too much, it is already a great bike and ready for the track. www.gixxer.com as posted previously, it is a great place to get anything answered about a gixxer and to get some good ideas.

Right after you burn up your stock tires, put on some Metzler M1 Sportecs.

See if you can play around with the stock suspension settings. I had a local shop set it up for my weight, and it totally transforms the bike.

Look for the "TRE" mod at www.gixxer.com , you can probably do it yourself and save yourself $65. But if you go to your dealership for service, make sure you get the ones you can unplug. In my experience, it makes your deceleration smoother - not so abrupt. It also takes off the top speed limiter, but I have yet to see even 150 on the freeways, so its only useful if you go to the track.

..and finally, this sounds stupid, but get to a track day or go to a racing school - its the best mod you can do.

UglyAngelX,

You seem to have streetbikes and racebikes a little confused. A very successful racebike makes a terrible streetbike and vice versa. But that’s OK, I’m used to the poor chaps that buy a car based solely on what won at Daytona.
1. where did I ever mention racebike???
2. did I say trackday or race day???
3. with minor adjustments, the bike is ready to ride the track and ride it pretty hard, minor adjustments and it is back on the street.
4. Just because you watch left turn racing and know, who won the NASCRAP Daytona race, does not mean everyone else does.
5. If a Durango won Daytona........then I m guilty.

'Exploding' business

UglyAngelX,

It's obvious you don’t understand any of this, so I'll just say that I hope you have better luck than the GSX-R1000 guys around here. So far, I'm not impressed, but they're great for my business, so I shouldn't complain. My investment on special tools for the GSX-R1000 (another major drawback) is already over $2,000 and still growing. I hate to spend this much money just to do the basic stuff on one model, but considering the projected much higher than normal failure rate, I'll get back my investment pretty fast. I may have to hire a GSX-R1000 specialist just to keep up with the 'Exploding' business.

Ok, I fail to see where I said anything about a 1k and I have read your previous post(s) on what you had to say about the 1k motor and believe what you have to say about them. Personally, after what you previously posted about the 1k, I would never even consider it as a next bike. I have taken my 750 to the track and ridden it hard on the roads and have no problems to date. How often are you seeing the 750's? More frequently than any other bike? I would think not, unless you have a bunch of people that are not taking care of what they got and not performing regular maintenance.

Back to the point, which you obviously do not understand!!!!! I believe he was asking about what kind of MODS he could do to his bike and not looking for some A$$h@le to try and down his new bike.

Personally I prefer the 750 from a maintenance standpoint. My only reason for responding was to inform people about some of the problems, but there's no point carrying this any further. Your caricature of Mickey Mouse and the need to be foul mouthed pretty well says just where you're coming from.

Which ONE???

I'm going to buy either a 2003 R6 or a '03 GSXR 750...Im not going to be racing...just a street bike, but i would like to run on the interstate for about 30-40mi... which one is more comfortable, better rpms? Power? Speed? the guys at the dealers only suggest what they have...for obvious reasons...will someone give me an honest answer?

please post me something!

I would steer away from both of these bikes if I were you. It sounds like you have never ridden before(I could be wrong) and if you want it just for a streetbike to ride around, there are a lot of better choices. If you want to stay with a sporty look, get something like an SV650 and get the lower fairing put on. SuperSportbikes are not made for comfort, they are made for performance.

As for DAVEL, not once did you list any kind of problems with a GSX-R750. You did not mention anything besides exploding business and buying tools. I am not trying to flame you or start any fight on this, but you came in flaming someone's new bike and sounded like a total dick about it and all he wanted to know.....was MODS for his bike.

Mods:-

1) TRE Mod - eliminates the timing retardation in the lower gears, some say it smooths the throttle response too - I built a switchable hard-wired one for about $3 - the switch was a waste of time though :)

2) PAIR mod - removing a load of emmissions stuff - no noticeable gains, but a reduction in weight. Get the blanking plates for $4 from your local dealer.

3) Full Exhaust System - Yosh RS3 works well on mine - adds a few HP, sounds good, and looks nice, costs $500-$1000

4) Dynajet Power Commander - HUGE difference. Allows you to tune the bike to the new exhaust, and get rid of the factory flat spots :) costs about $300, plus dyno work to get it just right $300.

5) Fender hack - gets rid of a lot of the ugly plastic around the back end, got a dremel ?

6) Ohlins rear shock - the stock one is OK, Ohlins is way better. "Works" shocks are almost as good for $250, Ohlins is $600-$2000.

7) Fork re-valve/re-spring - worth the cash. Racetech did mine for $200.

8) Double-bubble screen - raises the wind a little. Zero Gravity smoked $40-$80.

9) EBC HH brake pads - $38

10) Braided steal brake lines. $100

With all of thet you will gain about 12-15hp, and it will handle and stop way better too......

Oh - it will look cool too, and the Yoshi Xhaust sounds great :)
