Hmm, okay, I buy in on the "3 years to perfect the R1" school of thought. Awesome bike, that R1 is. Me just being a Suzy Man (loyal, but not to a fault, have owned a Honda and would purchase any of the top 4 if their product bit me the right way)I would probably stick w/the Gixxer. I've read some info on the projected new Gixxer, and the motor is supposed to be all-new, not a stroked/bored 750. The chassis will be the same as the 750. The 1000 motor shouldn't weigh more than a few pounds more than the 750, so upsetting the fine balance of the chassis shouldn't be an issue. Granted there are lots of fine details to work out as far as getting the power to the ground type of thing, but consider that Suzuki built the '00 750 to compete in WSB type competition w/ 180hp high strung race motors and all of a sudden, a 140-150 lump doesnt' seem too far fetched. I will wait unti all the mags have had their way w/it and see what they think first, though. If not, I'll see if I can find a leftover '00 750 (new) and rock 'n roll from there. Cheers.
