My wife wants to start riding and I am encouraging this, but in order for her to feel comfortable, I want to lower the bike a few inches. I have looked into the lowering links, but they seem to lower only the rear of the bike. (correct?) What do I do/purchase to get the front end lower as well? Also, what will this do to the performance and handling of the bike? I am sure this is a newbie question and I should know the answer, but I am not sure.

the front gets lowered for free! just loosen up the pinch bolts in the upper and lower tripple tree and slide the forks the necessary ammount.
Lowering both front and back reduces ground clearance, meaning less lean before things start scraping. Its easier to touch a knee :)

Lowering the front more than the rear decreases rake causing the bike to be more flickable, but less stable. Lowering the rear more than the front kicks the front out, makes it more stable but harder to turn
