I am 17 right now and a junior in highschool. I think this summer or next summer i am going into Il. to take the MSF course because i heard its free there. I am going to buy a bike for my junior and senior year in college. I am looking for a 250cc bike, but it has to look cool you know? lol
Im hoping to eventually get a gsxr600 or 750 but thats not till after college.
Let me know about any 250cc besides the ninja 250 because i have already looked at that and couldnt find anymore.
thanks everyone

As far as a "cool looking" 250, ninja has the market cornered there. Also about the best starter bike out there.

Hyosong (Korea) also makes a nice looking 250, but it's a little more than a Ninja new. You might find one used cheaper though. They are also marketed under the United Motors name in the U.S. Your only other options would be the 250 cruisers from Honda and Suzuki, plus the Nighthawk 250.

Do not buy a Lifan 200 or similar bike that you'll see on Ebay. They're marketed under various names here. While they may be okay bikes, they're made in China, and they're just not up to our quality and safety standards yet.

Another option would be dual-purpose bikes like the Yamaha XT250, but again they are generally more than the Ninja. Since you have a couple years, you should be able to get a used '08-'09 Ninja 250 then for under $3000.

I know a chick that has one of those, it's a nice looking bike for sure. Looks kind of like a CBR to me. She seems to love it and has had no problems with it... And everyone thinks it's a 600 (which she likes).

i looked at this one and it looks nice but have read mixed reviews on its quality. I think i may go for the 2008 ninja 250 because i like the style and have heard good things about ninjas.

Yeah, the Hyo is a real hit and miss affair; Some are okay, others are forever getting repaired.

Go with the Kwacka. :thumbs2:

I've had no experience (or exposure) to the Hyo, so I won't offer up my opinion, other than the fact that I don't trust it.

That said, I don't think you'll go wrong with the Kawi.
