Out of the 16 or so bikes I've owned since 1976, my favorite was a 87 K100RS, the bike handled well, could be packed and double up while handling the twisty's with ease!! BMW's have never been about "top speed", even the sporting version's (S verison) have to be able to "tour" well and my 87 K100RS was even comfortable and with the bike using "fuel injection" (ahead of it's time), I kick myself for ever selling it!!

I've noticed the new K1200RS has grown in size, has much lower bars and more reward pegs. Seem's BMW wants you to "think" it's a sportbike, LOL. Too bad, the K-motor (4 cyl. laid on side) is a lovely lump of a motor, useable power is everywhere, (yes, it's doesn't have sportbike type top end), it just too bad they've taken away the "comfort" part of it so much. The K-RS series is made to strief the two-lanes from state to state and sea to shining sea!! :D

The K1200RS seems confortable enough to me just sittin' on it in the showroom. My wife won't let me test ride one though. With the 5.9 percent financing BMW has on 'em she's afraid I'll take one home.

I've spent some time on a friend's K100RS and liked it while underway, but the dang thing is just too big and heavy for my tastes at stoplights. That could be because I only have a 30-inch inseam.

That's why I dodn't get an RS or an RT, not to mention a LT ("light truck"). Too big and bulky. I have a R1100R, and its good for the twisties and can do touring as well, and is still an easy to handle size and weight.
