That is a true tragedy. I am not wise to the facts of the case, but, it seems to me if the DVD player was not installed, the safety features were not disconnected, and he was not driving while the DVD player was on two very healthy people would be alive right now. Seeing that the cause of the accident was that he was reaching for a soda. Please.

Seeing that it is Alaska, that guy needs to have a hunting accident or something.:2cents:

heres another one. The Court has not determined if this is an accident or Road Rage. apparently the motorcycle didnt take off from the light fast enough after the truck blew his horn at him. The truck just ran his ass over. The guy suffered 3rd degree burns over 70 percent of his body and lost one of his legs but somehow survived.

way to set a legal precedent...fucking idiots

It should be illegal to have those "entertainment centers" working in the front, while the car is in motion. Who the hell needs to have DVD player in their car anyway??? I mean do you get THAT bored while sitting an an intersection that you need to watch the matrix or play grand theft auto?

EDIT: That dump truck thing is SCAAARY... im about to tape a fire extenguisher to my back

This is what happens when society turns soft. If people had real punishment for their crimes instead of a paid baby-sitting service(Jail), then we'd all be better off. I.E. You kill someone, you're life should be in jeopardy(I'm not saying it's definately the death penalty, but it should always be considered when it's not a pure accident being at the wrong place at the wrong time). Stupidity and "Peoples Human Rights" is what is killing this country.

Shit ill be the first to stand up... I need to have a DVD player in my car with a PS2 and everything else I put in there. Yes I get bored sitting in traffic. I like to be able to listen/see the News, sports, and movies. Why??? Because i want to and I can :2cents:

Even if those conveniences endanger every other driver on the road? Do you really spend that much time in your car? The benefits just don't outweigh the potential costs, as seen in the article above.

In all honesty I would be in favor of taking a good number of things out of automobiles. Sunshade mirrors would be one. Just look at yourself before you leave the damn house. I would also change the way radio's operate. Full operation while the vehicle is stopped, but once moving there are no changing stations or any other setting that distract the driver from driving. If you're in a car and on the road with me, I want you ass concentrating on the road and not movies, videogames, books, newspapers, fast food, cell phones, etc. Driving is a way to get from point A to point B, nothing more.

A lot of those reasons are precisely why I love riding bikes. You don't have all of those distractions, it's just you and the road.

Yes I used to spend that much time in my car and when my family take trips we use my car for that reason and others. What you have to relize is I don't drive and stare at the screen. It's mostly for listening or watching while im parked or for my passengers to watch/play while en rout to our destination. If you can't drive and change the radio or pick up a pop you don't need to be on the road at all(Not at you personally). It's more of a danger having a cellphone up to your head blocking your perferial vision than it is for me to have a DVD playing. imo

the dude driving that vehicle was going to kill someone no matter what he had installed..if you cannot grab a "pop" while driving...maybe ya should pull it over and then grab it...its like saying cell phones are dangerous...it is simple as holding a conversation with your passenger...so basically no one should be allowed to talk and drive at the same time...because talking on the phone is no different than talking to a person in the car....

What needs to be realized is that none of the things mentioned, DVD players, cell phones, pops, game systems, newspapers, food, pets, kids, should take priority over the drivers responsibility, which is driving. If you chose to make one of these things a priority, you should be able to
take responsibility for anything that might happen as a result. It's no different that driving drunk, except they haven't passed a law against it yet. Driving is a priviledge, not a right,.

I disagree, with your phone up to your ear, you are less likely to look where you are changing lanes to, or to use your signal, not that anyone does, but you can't with one hand on the wheel and the other on your phone. If you use a hands free, then I'd agree.

That I agree with :thumb: But it is illegal to drive with a DVD or video game playing in the drivers view here :D
