Hey everyone, I just registered to this forum and from what I've seen in the past 15 minutes, this site is amazing!! I'm from Toronto, ON, Canada.

Well, I've always wanted to buy a sportbike but I'm completey new to this stuff. Winter is coming up for me soon and I've decided to stop all the work I've been doing to my car and save up for a bike. I'll be buying a used bike b/c I don't have that much money. So, I would just like to know what I need to look out for when buying a used bike...What I mean specifically is how would I know the condition of the bike how reliable it will be?
Thanks!!

Welcome!! Your best bet would probably be, bring an experienced rider along and someone that knows a thing or two about bikes.

Would your username be referring to Dr. Wong Fei Hung, the famous chinese doctor/martial artist?

UglyAngel has given you the best advise.

The other way will be to drop down to the used book stores & look around for more recent m/c mags of the type of bikes you have an interest in THEN take a look at what is on the newsstands & pick our a few up to date m/c mags on sportbikes.
True a fair amount of info on the 'net, but you will find some deep reading will be a lot of help in understanding what m/cist are talking about, to mechanics, to those the write for the m/c mags.

Some things to look for....

Look at the milage in contrast to the bikes condition... was it rode hard and put away wet (scratches, condition of tires, condition/cleanliness of oil, condition/cleanliness of coolant, does the seller have a record of maintenance that shows oil changes, coolant services, brake fluid/pad changes, clutch in good contition? does it slip? reciepts for any work done or parts replaced? DOES THE BIKE HAVE A CLEAN AND CLEAR TITLE?? and yes i agree bring yourself a friend that knows what a bike is all about and is licensed, so he can take it for a test ride if possible.
big question WHY IS THE PERSON SELLING IT?

much the same as buying a used car...buyer beware!
