I recently suffered the fairly common "crack in the coolant expansion tank syndrome." As luck would have it, the local dealer had it in stock for $35.

Since I had the bike apart and the coolant drained, I installed a larger Muzzy aluminum fan, and a lower temp fan switch. Hopefully that will result in slightly cooler running engine in the summer in traffic.

I also installed a sidestand bypass switch so that the bike will run in neutral with the sidestand down, but will shut off if placed in gear with the sidestand down (like most Japanese bikes.) It used to bug the crap out of me that I couldn't warm up the bike with the sidestand down.

I'd definitely recommend the sidestand bypass if you don't have it, and the install was very simple.

Sounds like a nice bike...do you have pics. Post'em if ya got'em.

The mods to me seem like common sense things. The coolant resevoir seems to be a common problem. I know a few guys that the same things has happend to them.

No, I don't have any pictures, although I've had the bike a couple of years now.

The crack in the coolant tank was not easy to see, and was only leaking under pressure. When it reached the right pressure to leak though, it sprayed out all over the damn place. It made quite a mess. Luckily I had read that it was a common problem, so it didn't take long to diagnose.

Now I just have to install my cyclecat adjustable bars, and the bike will be perfect!
