Insurance

Yeah, that's the real bitch for young riders. Insurance. Often, it's very easy to afford the bike payments, but the insurance premiums can be a dealbreaker.

$3000 does seem like an awful lot. All I can say is do a LOT of calling around. Open the phone book and call every agent from A to Z. If that doesn't work, maybe you'll just have to get a less "aggressive" bike with lower premiums. Maybe a Suzuki SV 650, Honda 599, Yamaha FZ-6 or something along those lines.

I did alot of looking around down here( Louisiana) and all state has the cheapest for about 65 bucks a month. Granted it only liability, but I bought a bike almost 10 years older than yours. Im 20 , but I also have home and auto insurance through them. I have a hand full of speending tickets as well. I was looking at about 2600 for full coverage on a 98 cbr. Like he said , its a real bitch.

Check with state farm if you havent already. Down here they dont consider bike classifications (cruiser, tourer, sport etc) just cc's. Of course it differs from region to region.

There is also a way to cheat the system. If you have some relatives/friends living in a small town BFE, register the bike at their address. Then insure it there, and your premiums should drop sagnificantly. Not sure how legal that is.

If their asking that much a year you must be lookin at full coverage. If its your first bike, go with only the minimum required cuz your gunna hurt your bike and claiming it will only raise your insurance. Plus with the amount their asking you to pay you could get anouther bike if you total that one. Ive got just liability, which is all thats required in FL, and I payed $150 for the year and I'm 19. I got mine through progressive. Good luck.
