I was in a local shop today and the owner was looking at my bike and noticed that I have a street compound Dunlop D207 in the rear and a GP D207 in the front. He said I should switch to the GP rear (which he conveniently had in stock) and I also mentioned that I had a 190/50/17 in the rear and he said that that size was unsafe. Is this true should I buy the the 180/55 that he has? I have only about 2000 miles on the tire but it seems to be getting a little slippery, I saw a post from someone asking if anyone else noticed this ( I think it was chris_y2k_R1) if anyone gots any ideas lemme know. Thanks.

I think the 5.5 inch rims hold the 180 series tires and the 6 inch rims can hold the 190's.If you put the 190 on a 5.5 inch rim they say it puts some kind of strange curve on the tire out near the edge of contact patch. This may explain why it feels greasy when leaned way over.

Change BOTH tires to 207ZR's, not race tires. You'll get better wear and just as good grip on the street. Change to the 180/55. The 190 will slow turn-in.

I've heard that the 190's do turn slower and that they are mostly just eye candy. But, is it really going to make a noticable difference switching to the 180's ? It would seem to me, by looking at the tire profile, that the 207's would turn faster than the pilot sports even with equal sizes.

Needless to say the bike was designed for a 180 on the back. If God (the manufactorer) had intended it to have a 190 it would have came that way.

207ZR's TURN QUICKER that PILOT SPORTS????

HAH!!!

u guys must be on something... the pilots have a steeper profile and turn a lot quicker that those square 207's...

please....

oh... a 5.5 will hold a 190 and not have any dangerous effects, though the 180 does turn faster, but not drastic enuff for you to notice on the streets...

still, yer bike is a 600, get a 180 on there... stick to the ZR's, they get better life than the GP's...

betta yet, get the Pilot Sports and REALLY start riding yer bike...
