Nice car I didn't see how much it cost, But you might want to look into a 70's Ford Pantera. same type of design but with a 351 Cleveland(like the city).

A Sterling? An effing Sterling?! And you're pissed because the guy sold it? He did you a favor.

Q: How do you make an Acura unreliable?
A: Let the British build it.

These things were pieces of crap. You're lucky. I had an Acura Legend for a while. Great car, but the maintenance was ridiculous. They wanted $875 for a new timing belt. New high-pressure brake lines every 30k miles (at $350). Special Acura-specific transmission fluid or you'd need a $2500 rebuild. And that's just for scheduled maintenance. I don't even want to think about repairing a Sterling.

Go find yourself a Honda Accord and count your blessings.

photobug that isnt a modern "Sterling" its a 1970's VW powered kit-like car.. But nonetheless what the hell would anyone want in a POS like that??? I agree with CB, get a Pantera! you'd smoke most any "fast" car out there with the Cleveland mill.

And the "***" DID do u a favor by not selling that black disaster to you... you should be thankful.

Hehehehe

well, i like the sterlings.. reliable platform & engine.. plus an endless aftermarket & they are easy to work on (the only thing easier than a bike is the vw bug). plus this one was factory built.. not home built.. its titled & insured as a sterling.

i would love a pantera but i cant afford one.. the sterling is super car styling.. sportcar performance (when built correctly).. po-man budget. we had agreed on $5200.
www.sterlingcentral.org has some very nice examples in the gallery.

Speed, sorry about the Sterling. Guys are probably right about the guy doing you a favor but I probably would be blind in love with that thing too.

I've lusted after the Pantera for a long time now, ever since I saw a candy apple red beauty at a car show once. It's not my all-time favorite but it sure does move the soul--much more than these modern day sports cars. I was just cruising around the web after reading this thread and came across this story---a good read if you like the Pantera or a good road trip. http://www.lonestar.texas.net/~winkler/jlw/roadtrip.html

Sorry about the mixup on the car's identity. That's what I get for not clicking the link, but I never click Geocities links.

i dont blame u photobug.. i hate geosh!ties too.

get this.. the owner of the car i wanted was andrew chapman.. friday i emailed a guy on another sterling.. he emailed me this morning saying that andrew chapman sent him a check for the car on saturday  this guy has screwed me out of 2 cars in less than a week & he live 1/2 way across the country!

i might just buy a pos for the winter.. a bug or something then build my own sterling next summer (but that would cut into my racing finances :() damn... at least i can drown my problems in snowboarding soon.

here is the car i was supposed to buy origianlly..
