In my ever ongoing search to find a recent model ZX-6r (in my budget of course), I came across a '98 with like 2K miles on it. Bike is in great shape and is all stock with the exception that it was "lowered" - turns out the original owner was a <cough> errr, well a girl <cough> (ouch thats an ego hit for sure) and she had it "lowered" right after purchase.

Secure enough in my manhood to possibly purchase the bike and not being much of a mechanic type, my question is, is it possible to "raise" a "lowered" cycle? If so, how much cash'ola am I looking at to have a shop do something like that?

I really dont care much for thought of buying a cycle that has been lowered but if its trivial to "undo" then I'm golden

As a side note, I've found these forums to be immensely valuable - kudos to sportbikeworld.com and all the helpful riders who respond!

First thing to do is ask the previous owner if any major modifications were done to lower the bike. If just simple adjustments were done then it is probably a 1 hour job to get her back up to factory specs.
The front forks should just be dropped in the triple clamps. Very easy fix, loosen the triple clamps and push the forks down until they are at the factory marks, again. The rear shock is adjustable by rotating the washer nuts(technical terms) :) at the bottom of the coil spring.

washer nuts? coil springs?

Could you dumb it down a shade for the less technically inclined please?

Kidding of course, actually I got a call this evening from my local dealer (yes, the dealer called me) - they came down another 5 bills on a '00 ZX-6R and I'm taken it!!

Thanks for the reply!!

Whitey, tell that dealer $500 plus returning the bike to factory settings. I'm a little suprised, from a dealer liability standpoint, that they didn't do that on there own anyway.

Just wondering what you paid for yours, my loan was finalized today, waiting to see if State Farm is going to insure the bike. If so, I'll be on my way to pick mine up.

Looks like a Muzzy Green 00 ZX6R for me.

Xert - you're gonna love that bike!

I ended up paying $8050 OTD (the invoice says $7139+tax,tags,title& freight) but IMO its worth full MSRP so you can't go wrong. Hope everything works out for you!

Now if I just get past the "break-in" period!!
