Anybody have any experience with a 1985 CBR 250 R? This is a Japanese model with gear driven cams.

I've had experience with an early 90s RR. It was a bit of a grenade, kept blowing bits apart. Quite quick though.

What in particular do you want to know?

Things like parts availability, strong points, weak points, chronic wear items and so forth. Was the one you had equipped with gear driven cams?

Yes it was, they didn't fail. It was more the whole leg-through-the-side thing that got to me.

My feeling about them was that they're a bit of a highly stressed motor, pretty reliable up to maybe 50,000km but not much more, depending on use.
