Hey, hows that thing ride?

How many of you learned the hard way about letting someone else ride your bike?
My story. Shirley, my F2, had a new replica Erion Racing paint job (the old style) when I let a buddy ride in a parking lot. He managed to low side it in 3rd gear, front wheel first, into a curb and then it highsided onto the grass just beyond. Basically totalled the bike. Both sides of bodywork and engine casing, frame tweaked, front forks SPLIT (both of them), tank dented, etc. Now she sits in my basement waiting for the Dr Frankenstein to have the funds.

I feel your pain, I've been basically rebuilding my bike around an engine, forks, and swingarm. Oh yeah, speedomiter, front and rear fender too. Sucks, but I only had liability on a 2000 R1 and let someone ride it. I can say NO now! It's cheaper to rebuild than buy a new one, I've taken the positive aproach to a bad situation by thinking hey, I can put it back together the way I want it.

Not the brightest crayon in the box now, are we?
Here in Fl insurance is not required by the state. I just moved back and hadn't got around to getting the insurance so it is all going to be out of pocket. I have had thoughts of putting a 900RR motor in, and going all out for the rebuild, but I could buy new and be better off on that thing since it is so old.
You have a little bit more than a $1500 F2 though.

any cool riding spots in that area? I'm moving to the Ft. Walton Beach area when I get out of the military. Moving in with the ol mom and pops till I get my feet on the ground again.

Yuma? Are you in the Air Force? EAOS? I seperated bout 2 years ago, a REAL squid! Go NAVY. I hated it. Some decent roads between you and me, but I am about 120 miles to the east. Riding to Panama Beach is fun. I believe there are some roads in South Ga as well.

When you get to Ft. Walton we need to ride. I live in Pensacola. It's only about 45 min. from Ft. Walton. E-Mail me when you get into town at [email protected]

No in the Marines. I'm getting out in Dec maybe, I might be on medical hold until my ankle fully heals from surgery. Yeah I've only been to Panama beach once, and that was during spring break :)

Sounds good to me :) I only have one friend in Pcola, and I haven't seen her since Oct '95 when my sister got married :( You live on the beach or town?
My parents don't live in Fort Walton though, I just used that as a reference point because the towns small and I wasn't sure if known. It's Crestview, about 15-20 min behind Ft. Walt next to the 10 . BTW here is my email, [email protected]
