Hi! need inputs/advice.. we have just recently bought a 87-90 Kawa GPX750R (ZX750) (not sure of the exact year model) and we are now on our 3rd time to break the alternator belt in a span of 3 weeks.. we don't see any problems with the bearing as the alternator pulley turns without any problem..

is there a specific way to exactly adjust the tension on the belt? we wouldn't want to have this problem continuously as the belt costs $50 US here :(

our only suspect is that there's a very slight leak on the carburetor which might be wetting the belt with gasoline.. could this make the belt snap (cut)??

please help! thanks in advance.
