Don`t know if this should be here or in the How do I, but anyways, anyone know how to prep a helmet to paint it? Will it hurt the performance of it to sand the clear coat and paint off with some fine grit sand paper, then prime, then paint? I`m guessing thats how they do it, just becareful not to sand any of the actual helmet off... I don`t want anything special, I just want it flat black, or else I would take it to someone to get it done. Thanks for any info

I was told by an airbrush shop, just to lightly sand it to get the clearcoat off and that will make the surface ready for some paint. I am sure people can go over board and prime and all that stuff. I would just make sure that the paint you are getting can be used on plastic and that the clear can also be used on plastic and used with the paint you are selecting.
