Just figured out why my new Arai Signet GT didn't fit. Arai's chart was off.

I wear a Large in other helmets, but Arai large was too tight. I found out that the chart on the Arai website was mathematically incorrect.

For example, on MAW, the chart shows Large as 7 3/8 to 7 1/2 (or 59 - 60 cm).

On the Arai website, Large is 7 1/4 to 7 3/8 (or 59 - 60 cm). This appears to be mathematically wrong.

The way I figure it, I must have a 60 cm head. If I calculate the inches, I need an XL Arai (7 1/2 - 7 5/8). If I use the Arai chart, it shows I need just a Large (7 1/4 - 7 3/8). The chart has 59-60 cm for a Large, 61 - 62 cm listed for XL... the math shows that should be 60-61 cm for XL.

Look here under sizing comparisons:
http://www.araiamericas.com/product/product_home.html

So what does this mean?
use this chart for Arai:
XS 6 1/2 to 6 5/8 (52-53 cm)
S 6 3/4 to 6 7/8 (54-55 cm)
M 7 to 7 1/8 (56-57 cm)
L 7 1/4 to 7 3/8 (58-59 cm)
XL 7 1/2 to 7 5/8 (60-61 cm)
XXL 7 3/4 to 7 7/8 (62-63 cm)
XXXL 8 - 8 1/2 (64-65 cm)

Since the CMs on Arai's charts were messed up, this may have caused folks to order one size too small, depending on whether the retailer basing their own sizing recommendations on Arai's CM or inches.
For those mathematics folks, please double-check the numbers.
Thanks.

Shape Matters too

Don't you know that women aren't just worried about size....SHAPE!!! Arai has three shapes now. Quantum for round, Signet for Oval, Astro for in between, the reason one might not have fit might have to do with shell shape.
