hello all ...
this is my first post here. i just bought a 2001 honda cbr 600 f4i with 900 miles on it. It is silver black...all stock except for Erion pipes. The bike has been garaged and the seller was a 32 year old guy who was the first owner. The bike is spotless and was never ridden hard. I paid $5400 for this bike. The blue book retail was $5050. I wanted to know if I got a decent deal on this bike or if I overpaid.

Thanks!

hmm i know i overpaid in the sense that i paid more than the kbb retail value. but kbb does assume a certain milage for a 4 yr old bike and this one had only 900 miles on it. I really wanted a F4i and I was finding it really hard to find a good used one. This guy was asking 5500 and only budged by 100 buks.

I have not ridden it for a 2 hr stretch yet but from what I have experienced it seems alright. Will give you a better update as I ride more.

Thanks.

Hey, man, get over the buyer's remorse. Even if you got it for half that price, you'd still be wondering if you should have gotten a different bike or whatnot. I think that's a normal psychological reaction after spending a big chunk of cash on a long coveted item.

Just think to yourself how much having the bike is worth to you? If it is worth $5400, then you got what you paid for, but if it is worth $1 million, then you got one hell of a deal!

It's a sweet looking bike, so forget about the money that's already gone, gear up, and go ride the shit out of it!

I will be liberating an enduro bike this weekend. A guy at my work just got another job and will be moving to Colorado. I've been hitting him up for his '85 Honda XL600R that hasn't run in 10+ years due to some engine problems. He has "hemmed and ha'd" about it for the last year, wanting to get rid of it one day, then wanting to fix it up another time. With him moving, I finally convinced him that I should get a chance to fix up the bike, and spare him moving it one more time. Is $100 a good price for it? I don't know, but I am very excited about the opportunity to bring the bike to life and do some different kind of riding. I will be posting in "How to" forum for some ideas about the engine problems.

Unless you're a bike dealer looking to sell at a profit, Blue Book is only an indicator. Looks and sounds like you got a brand new fuel injected 600, still in break-in period, for $5400. If you bought it to keep and ride, it sounds like a very good deal. Congratulations!

Ride smart, keep the maintenance up, and it'll last you forever. Oh, and buy and wear good gear, always! Happy Motoring.:)

Yeah, seems like you got a brand new bike pretty cheap. I had an 01 f4i, I loved it. Kinda wish I never wrecked it. Great stunt bike, track bike, and tourer. That bike does everything very well. You just might want to change all the fluids and oils etc(fork oil, everything). Have fun and be carefull.

 That's exactly what i'm looking for just in red. very nice bike though...very nice. sounds like you got a great deal. All of the ads i've seen for 01 F4i's read like 4k miles $5800. or RARE blk/slv 3200 miles $6800 <--that one is a bit over priced in my opinion. If I had the chance to get the bike you bought...i'd be out riding right now.

I think it sounds like an awesome deal...the book means nothing when the bike has 900 miles on it! Not like you overpaid compared to another 900 mile CBR for that year, because there's not many around.

As long as you think it's worth what you paid. I "overpaid" for my VFR this year, too. They're harder to find than supersports, and the local dealers were asking way too much. I could have saved $500-700 buying from Ebay, but I found mine, very clean, well maintained, color I wanted, and the seller seemed like he took good care it. So I paid a little more for peace of mind. But it's worth it to me!

Enjoy it:thumb:

who ever sold the bike to you with 900 miles on it should get fined for leaving such beautiful thing cooped up.

so, yeah, i was going to go check out a used bike dealer yesterday afternoon but ended up here on the boards instead. after replying to this thread i decided to go just for the hell of it. Well 2.671 seconds after walking through the dealers front doors a guy pulled up on a bike just like yours. '01 F4i slv/blk. stock. looked to be in mint condition. i go back outside to look at it and of course there was a paper tag for a plate. turns out they just sold it. I could have had a no forget it this is upsetting me. it hurts. :crying:
