Pete, Micron has been back ordered-mine is supposed to be here next week-can't wait to ditch the missle silo. Here is a good website to try http://www.parts411.com/acb/showprod.cfm?&DID=9&CATID=39&ObjectGroup_ID=1074

I wouldn't order anything from Micron directly. They wanted $429 for my pipe which was $357 through parts411.com. I also ordered my seat skins through them--cheaper than LP and much better service. So far they have been very helpful with my order and even came down of their shipping price $16.25 to $5. Did you want the oval pipe or the round?

Damn, it was bound to happen sooner or later. Dropped my beautiful 929 yesterday. I was walking out to the parking lot after work and chatting with my wife (we usually leave separately-so I fully blame her :) ) well I get to the bike and...take my gloves out of the trunk, put on jacket, helmet, gloves etc. I hop on the bike, fire it up and take off--THEN BLAM I'm on the ground wondering how the hell I got there. Damn disk lock finally got me. Well, I quickly get up and pull the bike up (sucker is pretty heavy when it's laying on it's side :) ) and do a quick inventory of the damage. Clutch cover has very minor scrapes, left mirror same, and the frame slider had scrapes--that's it, not the slightest scratch to any plastics or the tank--thank god. To top it all off, nobody saw that embarrassing maneuver. So I'm pissed that I dropped her but very glad she's ok.

I'm surprised that it didn't damage the rotor or caliper. I'm happy for you that it didn't.

No big deal really........it's only a Honda. ;) :D

Clark, sorry to hear about your mishap, and glad the damage is minimal.

Sorry to bugger up your thread with non-related stuff, but I wanted to ask you if you've gotten your Micron pipe yet? Did you order straight from them? I just sent them an e-mail asking them if they have hi-mount systems for the VTR, which aren't shown on their site. I think I have made up my mind to go with Micron. Thanks bro!

Clark, thanks man, that's a huge help to me!!

I haven't made up my mind on round vs. oval. Not sure which one looks best with the hi-mount dual setup. Which one did you order?

Pete, I ordered the CF oval race can, wish they had a high mount pipe that got rid of the mid-pipe but o well. I was trying to picture which would look better on your bike and I guess it depends on how high the high mount is as to which one looks the best. Let me know what you decide to go with.

Hy-Syde, I might be working this weekend but if not I'll drop you an e-mail later in the week. Where are you guys going to ride and what time will you be leaving/meeting.

Thats great that nothing really bad happened to your bike but in the future put something on your starter switch (rubber band or string) to remind you of you disc lock. :)

Speaking of frame sliders on 929s, Honda specifically recommends that you don't use them on the 929. They (Honda) say that the engine mounts and casings are not designed to take the stresses induced by a slider, and that cracks in the frame, cases, or both may result. As a result of Honda saying not to use them, if you bin, your insurance company can very easily refuse to compensate you for a cracked frame or engine casing if you had sliders on. Maybe they would refuse, maybe not. Just wanted you guys to know. Personally, I am not putting them on my bike. If I go down, I will just call my insurance company. That is what I pay them for in the first place.

Rossco, I heard this too about Honda not recommending them and I imagine any manufacturer would probably say the same thing. If I do get in a bad wreck I'll just take them off and put the original bolts back on.

Good information, but referencing your last statement, *some* people like to avoid making a claim with their insurance company, if financially feasible, to avoid the impending increase in rates.

I just had someone suggest to me that *maybe* Honda is taking this stance for fear of litigation associated with sub-standard engine mounting bolts. Kinda makes sense because you know there's somebody out there who's gonna try to save a penny by making his own sliders. Just food for thought.

Yeah, I believe that in one part of their warning, Honda mentioned something about the grade of the engine mount bolts. I will see if I can dig up an actual copy of the memo in question somewhere. If anybody else knows where to get a copy, please do, and post it for all of us. Thanks.
