Actually, this is one of the "nicest" boards around. Is there a particular instance or person you're speaking of?

Not on this board. The few that might make a mistake will come back on & apologize if they accidently stepped out of line or someone did not understand them on some minor matter. Like we cannot see the expression on the face of the writer, note his tone of voice, or know him/her & their way of speaking though, in this case, typing a Thread of Post.

Depends on what you take the meaning of flaming to be. I think most would agree that it means, "Writing crude messages to provoke responses, especially in e-mail, listserv, and chat room messages." [247.aw.com/html/glossary/f_gloss.html]. If that's the case, I guess I'd disagree with you. Personal attacks and thoughtless comments about an individual are pretty routinely (and harshly) responded to by the moderators and more senior members of this board. Of course, if you're a person who posts such comments, then, yeah, you've probably been flamed

If, OTOH, you take flaming to mean, "The act of calling into question someone's thoughts, beliefs, and parentage simply because you don't agree with them. Originally, flame meant to carry forth in a passionate manner in the spirit of honorable debate. Flames most often involved the use of flowery language and flaming well was an art form. More recently flame has come to refer to any kind of derogatory comment no matter how witless or crude. Don't do it." [support.airmail.net/faq/glossary_al.php], then I'd say that debate is part of all newsgroups. A great example is the holy war about oil type for motorcycles.

On many boards (not this one, though), it is written right into the stickie posts that flaming can be done when someone asks a question that exists in the archives, posts without any supporting information that's needed, or posts which are typed oddly (all CAPS, no punctuation, spelling errors, etc). So, as has been said, this board is actually quite tame, IMO. If you know of a motorcycle board that's tamer, post it up!

Only when some noobie comes on and says that he/she (note political correctness) wants a GSXRZXCBRXYZ 1000, and they don't care what anyone with experience thinks. Lots of us like to joke around...most of the time its all in good fun, but there are instances where a good flaming is called for!!:D

btw, glad this wasn't a gay thread....not that theres anything wrong with that!!!

There's nothing wrong with the love between a man, another man, a donkey, a wooden spoon, and a gallon of olive oil, right? :dunno:
