to be more accurate, the current bikes have 998.__(fill in the decimals) CCs, each year, they increase the decimal numbers and tune out more horses.

Some rule ya can't go over 1L (1000 cc's) for racing class. Not really exactly sure what it says.

I think motoGP bikes have to be 990cc where as superbike are limited to 999 and supersport to 599.

However manufacturers have many bikes that are even lower, 929,954 are notable examples. Its not as pronounced in the '00s and it was in the 90's.

990 (more like 988-989) I think is for 4-strokes in Moto-GP, but those that are still struggling with 2-strokes still have the age-old 500 cc limitation.

Thats why kawi is making the zx6r and the zx6rr. The RR is 599cc race legal version, and the 636 (r) is the street version that has abit more low end.

i always kinda thought it was a way to get lower insurrance because ive heard they have cc brackets and if you put 599 instead of 600, you drop to that lower rate...
but i dont know, just my own lil theory
