hey as u now know i am fairly new to the bike scene and was wondering about riding in traffic, obviously when now moving the bike will get hotter and the fan will eventually kick on at about 222F (on my bike anyway) just wondering if we should turn if off when waiting at long lights or in extrememly long waits in traffic or is there something else ppl do? or is it no big deal and just ride with the fan coming on every other stoplight?

Leave the engine on. Two reasons.
1. So you can get out of the way of some idiot that decided to rear end you
2. Stopped engine does not circulate water. Thus all the head in the engine will stay in the engine when its off.

When it's at 220, does it hold 220, or keep getting hotter and hotter after the fan comes on?

If it'll hold 220, I wouldn't worry about it. I know on my bike, 220 isn't overheated.

You don't want to turn the bike off at every light, for a number of reasons, but the one relating to this being that when a hot motor gets turned off, it actually gets a little hotter. So you don't want to be turning the thing off and on a bunch.

Yes I am. And I know it's not legal everywhere.. but do you always stick to exactly the speed limit? Obey all traffic laws? Okay buddy. Have fun sitting in traffic with an overheating bike and overheating in your gear.

And another reason you don't want to keep turning your bike on and off is because you'll run the battery charge down.
