What I think your hearing is common across most sport bikes (all brands) it's the tank venting. Usually with large temperature changes and the steadily burning gas the tank needs to vent... most do so thru the cap. It can sound like a high pitch whining, or a hissing sound like a pin hole in your tire. Some bikes do it worse than others.... my old 9's were quite loud.

No worries.

Hi cichild-

Does the sound occur at all times, or just after fueling? What about different temperatures and humidity levels? This isn't something I've ever noticed on my Honda CBR 600F2 in the past. It doesn't make a sound while riding or when the engine is running.

About the only thing I may have ever heard is a barely-audible gasp when I open the tank to top-it-off on really hot days. Even then it is very infrequent and not something I could say happen with any regularity.
