Hey guys, I had another question. Someone has brought the ZXR 400 to my attention. Does anyone seem to know anything about this bike?... I've been seraching for it and all the sites that have them seem to be foreign. Are they legal in the states, and if so, where can I get one. Thanks a lot.

You can't get them in the States through normal dealers.:( 400 cc sport bikes are common in Japan and most of Europe and probably Canada. They don't sell well here in the good ol' USA, so the manufacturers don't import them, even though they are legal in most States.

400's seem to be the best for me!

Well, ive been checking around, are there any 400's in the recent past, 1990 to 2001 that are available in the US?... IF not, is it difficult to have one brought in?.. If IO can have one brought in, do I have to fix it up in any sort of way to make it legal?

-thanks,
Jon

There were a whole bunch of 400s that came into the states for a couple of years in the early '90s. The Yamaha FZR 400 and the Suzuki Bandit 400 just to name two. You might be able to get a newer model in Canada and register it no problem. Just keep checking the used bike adds, and check around for "exotic" dealers.
There used to be a dealer here in California that brought hard to find "gray market" bikes in from Canada, but he got arrested for fraud when he didn't deliver some bikes.

Hey fatman, thanks for the help.. You seem pretty knowledgeable about the 400s. The bandit wasnt as sporty looking as the cbr400 or the fzr400.. i am looking more along those lines. DO you know where I should start looking?... online?.. Magazines?... I live in Nashville, so is it going to be difficult to get ahold of one of these bikes?.. thanks for the help.

I've never tried to get a bike that wasn't readily available, but I'm sure you can get a 400 you'd be happy with if you look hard enough and are willing to spend a little cash on shipping. I would try online first, It doesn't hurt to look around, you might find a dealer that will ship anywhere, so getting one in Nashville probably isn't as hard as one might think.

Good luck!:D

Fatman

Ok Fatman,

Either I'm a damn fool, or I'm really bad at finding things. IF you can find a place that is selling one of those bikes, I would really appreciate it... YOU would be my freakin' hero, man. thanks for all the help you have given me.
By the way, where are you from?

I'll look, that might be a little harder to find in the States.
It's probably very common in Japan, I'll do some surfing and let you know what I find.

It shouldn't be too hard to find a dealer to order one for you.
