Ok, really stupid question, but i just wanted to make sure that cbr f2's and f3's (91-98 b/f FI) dont have fuel pumps. Its just gravity/flow right? I didnt think they did, but then saw on ebay and stuff fuel pumps for f2's and f3's and assumed they are just an aftermarket modification. Whats the story? Again, sorry for the stupidity of this question.

If it has carbs it make have a low pressure/ low volume pump of some sort to insure fuel getting to the float bowls, if its fuel injected it has to have some pressure behind it or no injection occurs.

NO! I think 97 is the first year for a fuel pump on those. All previous are simply gravity feed.

I'm gonna say call your local Honda stealership and ask a service person. My opinion is that yes the earlier F's had some sort of fuel pump, I have a buddy with an '89/'90 600 and his has a fuel pump on it but I don't know for sure that it was factory. F2/F3 yes for sure, and no they weren't very good.:confused:

Ha ha ... I'll call the local 'stealership' and ask the guys at the service department ... then I'll ask the parts guy what a pump costs if it isn't working properly ... I'm assuming the power leads for the pump has a plug in the end of it???

F2's do NOT have fuel pumps. Only F3's

I know this for a fact. I picked up my f2 that i have to rebuild that other day, and started tearing it apart, and found no traces of a fuel pump, and my clymers manual came, and showed no fuel pump for f2, but showed fuel pump in back for f3.

So...no fuel pump. :)

I don't know what year your F2 is, but a friends F2 does. They are different part #'s between the F2 / F3 generation but they look almost identical. The service manual also shows one on an F.:eek:

Um, well i guess this is why i started the thread. The 93 F2 i have, does not have one to be found. Ive got everything all dismanteled, and i have found no traces of a fuel pump.

It seems it just goes:

Tank->Petcock->Line/filter/Line->Carb

I was told it ran before, an i think it had this setup. I am positive that the page in my clymers does not show a fuel pump, only for the f3. I havnt run it yet, since it needed a new tank and carb rebuild, but will it run like this???

I cannot speek for everones bikes but my F3 would idle but at the hint of throttle it was done. We tonight also bypassed the pump on a buddies '89 Hurricane just to try it and the same thing, idle but no go under throttle. I can probably get a scan of the fiche for your year if this would help with your rebuild. But otherwise I don't think it'll run under power, my guess is it was taken off because it wasn't working and then the bike was sold for the next lucky person to purchase a new one. There not cheap, the one for the F2 is $143 retail. The two that I was unfortunate to have to purchase only lasted me maybe a year a piece, and the one that came on my brand new '97 only lasted 8 months...

My pump 'kicks' occasionally, so I'm guessing it's pretty much done for. I have a Haynes manual. My service manual for years '91 through '98 F2/F3 states that there is a fuel pump in models S, T, V and W (1995 to 1998); that sounds like F3s only to me. :eek: I'll troubleshoot it using the Haynes manual and make sure it's actually the pump that's bad and not the fuel cut-off relay or wiring in between.

You can get one off ebay for less than that, ive seen them on there.

Alright, i am convinced mine does not have one. All the lines, and mounting and all that lead me to believe there was never one. And in the manual it does not speak of one, expect of the f3.

Could anyone that looks at this please check out this as well. Thanks
